Disney says Bluey will be coming to the Disneyland Resort beginning March 22, 2026:

Beginning March 22, 2026, and continuing through the year, “Bluey’s Best Day Ever!” at the Fantasyland Theatre in Disneyland park will celebrate the heart and humor of the critically acclaimed Disney+ animated series, Bluey.

This immersive, family-friendly celebration will transform the Fantasyland Theatre into the grounds of Bluey’s school, where you can join the fun of Bluey’s best day ever. Throughout the day, Bluey and her sister Bingo will appear live on stage, joining a troupe of comedic actors and musicians. Together, they will bring to life the popular music and games emblematic of beloved Bluey episodes, inspiring young families and guests of all ages to participate.

From entertaining live musical show moments that seamlessly segue into iconic games like Keepy Uppy, to interactive adventures in a life-sized Gnome Village and Fairy Garden, it’s a special time when play is welcomed and memories are created by all. You can step into the fair at Bluey’s school with the Grannies, Chattermax, Unicorse and delight in select themed fave foods at Troubadour Tavern, inspired by the animated series.

I think given this and the christmas event in there now, someone at TDA determined people need this as a themed flex space for families to rest and unwind. Maybe the show format wasn't working out.

So it was never really a new show they were creating… just a more polished event in the theatre like the others…
Why is it assumed this is being run like an "event"? Just because its not a traditional show like in the past doesn't mean its not being run like a show, albeit probably more like an improv show with audience participation.

Also it has no end date as of now just the start date of March 22nd and said to run throughout the year, so other than a potential hiatus during the holidays I assume this is running all year and returning in 2027 after the 2026 holidays. Bluey is one of Disney's most popular shows on D+ and has lead the global streaming numbers for years now, there is no way this is temporary especially if popular.

A Bluey show and party at Fantasyland Theare? Come on, Disneyland! You do better than that! Why can’t you make a show that’s similar to Mickey and the Magical Map? Man, Disneyland is being hopeless right now!😢

Am I the only one ….thinking this is …kinda….lame….?

I’m sure small kids and their parents will enjoy the fun, and it’s good to have the theatre being used again…but….

Hmm.

I should be excited.
It opens on my birthday!

You’re not wrong. Because I think putting Bluey at the Fantasyland Theatre is a big mistake in my opinion.

Well I think that's why I'm excited personally.

I've not seen a show or movie bond parents and their kids together as well as Bluey does in a long, long time. There is just something about it that really, really works for families and resonates to both the youngest and the oldest in the room (it seems to make parents, especially new parents in particular, very emotional).

I think that's a tone and vibe the Disney parks have kind of been missing for a little bit. If they manage to successfully translate what makes families feel so good about the show into this experience, I think it could be a really beautiful thing to see. For solo guests, or guests who do not have younger children, it may not be as much of a draw, but this is a big win I think for families.

It's been a minute since the parks have offered something that is so explicitly, right down the middle aimed at the family unit rather than trying to net the older kids or please the parents separately.

This may not be what I would personally want in the Fantasyland Theater, but this is something that Disneyland can put there that will almost certainly draw people in to the park and space.

Bluey is very much about parent/child play and interaction, rather than sitting your kids down in front of crap TV just to shut them up, and unless the script Disney develops is a departure from that, it'll be better than just about anything aimed at that demographic would be, particularly if they're playing to the parents as much as they'll play to the kids, as befits the show.

From those perspectives, this is a big win.

People forget, even if this particular show isn't for YOU personally, the more crowds its draws the more it takes other guests out of the queues opening up a space for YOU and lowering wait times for YOU, so it is indirectly benefiting YOU.

I’m not sure the few hundred people per show it’ll attract will make any noticeable difference in any wait times.

Any successful production in the Fantasyland Theater or Hyperion should have EXACTLY that effect.

And Bluey is incredibly popular, as one of the most streamed shows for the past several years.

If Bluey can't get people into that theater, they might as well tear it down.

You do realize how insanely popular Bluey is right?

I just feel 2 months after this opens it’ll be playing to a couple hundred people.

We’ll see I guess. I hope I’m wrong and it’s a solid show that plays to packed audiences. But in my mind it’s not going to be much more than the Pixar dance parties they did.
