The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

Perhaps but no matter you slice it the attraction has fallen short of expectations. When they were building the land nobody would have predicted avg 20-30 min waits for a brand new Star Wars attraction where you fly the Millenium Falcon.
I don't think anyone had a prediction on what average wait times would be 6 years after opening. I don't think it was averaging 20-30 mins last year or the year before. So its really a more recent thing. And I do think that once Mando and Grogu are added into the rotation next year that it will drive up interest and wait times again.

The Millenium Falcon and Spider-Man deserve better than what they got. Sure they are both secondary attractions in their respective lands but maybe the point is you don’t choose those IP to be secondary attractions.
Maybe you have a point with Spidey. But should MF be the anchor of a SW land? I don't know that it should. But I do agree that the experience could and should have been better, even for a secondary attraction. Especially considering that the engineer and gunner positions really suck in most cases.

So what you are trying to say is Smugglers Run is meeting expectations and everyone loves it? 🙄

Falcon should have probably been a walk through. If you aren’t going to do this….

What’s the point of making it a ride?

Can we talk about Smugglers Run? I don’t think it can be overstated how underwhelming that attraction is. It had a 10 minute wait for the better part of last Sunday while Star Tours hovered over 30 minutes. While some of that can be attributed to location and Star Tours recently coming off a refurb that’s crazy. Hoping those new missions bring this attraction back from the dead.
Things I dislike about SR.

1) I don’t enjoy playing the role of a smuggler.
2) I can play much more enjoyable videogames at home.
3) This ride managed to make me hate the word “container.” Almost as much as The Force Awakens made me hate the word “portion.”

And gray. All the graayyyy.

And it’s has nearly nothing most of us love about Star Wars in its first mission.

Where did I say that its meeting all expectations and everyone loves it?

All I said was that I don't think anyone predicted what the wait times would be 6 years after opening. And that I think the drop in average wait time is more recent.

You obviously missed the part, or just ignored it, where I specifically said I agreed that the experience could and should have been better. And yes they probably should have had the gunner have its own pod in the attraction. I just don't think that irrespective of this attraction that the MF would be an anchor of any SW land. There is far too much with the SW IP that could be a better draw as an anchor. The MF would always be a secondary attraction in any SW land in my opinion.

We so needed to have a gunner seat like the movies. And the pilot should have been able to move up down and left and right.
I would have had two gunner pods on each side of the cockpit. Actually, maybe gunner pods on top and bottom too!! They are the whim of the 5 year old pilot flying in crazy direction. The engineer are non players in the back getting motion sick. There is no point to pressing that button.

I think the new missions will be a renaissance for the attraction. Honestly, the things they are doing in terms of multiple scenarios should have been a part of the ride from day one. They were ever teased, but nowhere to be seen on opening day. I think that May 22 will serve as the grand opening the ride never had.
Part of it too is that they overbuilt Smuggler's Run for ultimately unfounded capacity concerns (which we should be thankful for, to be honest).
I certainly am and I believe they will become truly useful once the new missions are added.

Right. Not only multiple scenarios but multiple locations fans care about.

It's a much better experience in person. The haptic response is much more interesting than what we have in DL, and it was much easier to aim at theirs than ours.
Agree to disagree. To me, Ant-Man is the worst attraction in the world that people don't regularly name as such.
Thing is we don’t travel all that much and I’m not sure how you tack on Tennessee as part of a bigger trip. As much as I’d love to see it, hard to see Tennessee being the main destination of a yearly (or every other year) family vacation. So not sure it’ll happen anytime soon unless we really make it a priority. Seems like the kind of trip that might make more sense when the kids are a bit older.
You'd be amazed how many people go to that exact area, and how many of those go yearly or at least semi-regularly. It's extremely drivable for a huge percentage of the country's population, being reasonably located for people in the South, Northeast, and Midwest. You have one of the only national parks on the Eastern side of the US right there, and a metric ton of family friendly attractions nearby.

Obviously not as accessible from CA, but it's a HUGE draw that's only grown bigger over the past 20 years.

Oh for sure. There’s a lot going on in that area. At least a lot of places that interest me. Over here I’ve pretty much exhausted many of the California or near California places of interest.

EDIT: actually there are still few Northern California cities and attractions I need to see

I haven’t been on Ant Man but it looks god awful to me on the POV’s.
