I'm definitely still disgruntled by much of what Disney does, but I don't really get the complaints about them returning the colors to the classic style. Sure, there's lots of things I'm not excited about with their current direction, but this is something to celebrate. I wish there were more to celebrate, but it's something.

I don't disagree here! I'm very happy for the return, and was very unhappy with the so-called "50th" color scheme.

I know we're used to We Call It Imagineering to normally balance between showcasing the latest they're working on and showcasing what they've done in the past, the castle episode just seemed mainly focused on how they designed each castle in the past. Not sure how that makes it overhyping the paint scheme? The only upcoming castle projects in the works they could have talked about are Cinderella Castle's refurb, and the castle they're designing for Abu Dhabi which they seem to only really be starting on, hence no concept art and just the first clarification that Abu Dhabi will be a castle park with a castle that incorporates water.

And they kind of have to make the new paint scheme seem like a biggish thing that's announced in advance in an attempt to warn people that the castle will likely have scaffolding or scrim when its being painted. They made a similar announcement for the 50th overlay, and Disneyland's last pain scheme change

Yeah, not sure if Disney has over hyped it - if you want to say it has gotten a disproportionate level of attention from the community, I could see that (probably partly as not anyone of news came out of Destination D23) - but that isn't really in Disney

The new Imagineering episode about the castles was a bit ridiculous... It was a 25 minute commercial and word salad about dreams and magic... When they were asking one of the Imagineers about the Shanghai castle it was an incomprehensible mélange of buzzwords carefully crafted by the marketing department about wishes and dreams and magic that was literally nonsensical.
Are these replacing Imagineering Story or Behind the Attraction? The latter seems like it’s really do for a new batch of episodes. I wonder if it’s just been dropped though

neither - this is a different product for YouTube not for Disney+

the next parks documentary for Disney+ will be Disneyland: Handcrafted

You know what's funny?
That is the crane for the Imagineering team to take paint samples from the turrets in the pre-dawn light so they can then take those samples to many European castles to compare the color value and density....before they begin the new paint job....which should start sometime in 2027
Shall I tell them I grabbed the right colors at Sherwin Williams yesterday?

Actually, I'm pretty sure this is a cover story to hide the REAL reason the cranes are coming in -- to dismantle the castle before THIS becomes our next killer hurricane! ETA: NVM...

That’s only Gabrielle (or what will likely become Gabrielle). Imagine what Extreme-Mega Hurricane Karen will do!!! 😱😱

(Yes, Karen is one of the Hurricane names this year)
