Pre-Trip Is the West Coast really the best coast?

As some might remember from the end of my last trip report, I was scheduled to visit EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival this past April; unfortunately, life (aka work) threw a wrench in those plans. However, shortly after last summer’s trip with S, I received a promotion that would relocate me from the Big Apple to the Golden State.

The last few birthdays have brought about a series of unfortunate events, so I decided to try to shake things up a bit this year; rescheduling my aforementioned trip for that week, and keep things a little closer to home…the literal happiest place on earth, DISNEYLAND! Fingers crossed for a few days filled with delicious snacks, fun rides, and happy thoughts!

Who: Just me (D) this time around, much to S’s chagrin!
What: Counteracting my string of birthday mishaps with pixie dust and churros
When: 9.21-9.27 (exactly 30 days out)
Where: Staying at one of the local hotels (less than 10 min walking distance from the Disneyland gates)/rounding it all out with a trip up to LA for a day at Universal Studios Hollywood

20 DAYS OUT:

One thing that I've quickly learned about Disney merch, is that it never hurts to check shopDisney(Disney Store now). Thankfully, I had a feeling to look for the 70th anniversary Spirit Jersey that I've had my eye on for a few months. Wouldn't you know it, when totaled with a few gifts I was purchasing, the jersey was brought down to $56 from $85.

At this point, I'm starting to think that it's become a tradition that my dog gets sick right before I leave for a Disney vacation.
2024:
South America- nada; Disney World- breaks out in hives from an insect bite 5 days before departure; England, Scotland and Ireland- nothing.
2025: Mexico- no problem; Disneyland- she manages to snatch something off the ground, and lands in the ER with what, thankfully, only turned out to be gastroenteritis; and after several X-rays, we see that it's being degraded by her tummy acid.

$1,300 later, baby girl is on the mend; running on the beach, and hitting us with the notorious Labrador eyes for a piece of whatever someone's eating. PS- if you have a pet, PLEASE make sure that they have insurance. We've already gotten back $1,000 of the bill.
