Is the Spirit of Aloha dinner show coming back?

Resort rates are never discounted for construction at Disney...and you've shown why. People are more than willing to pay full price for staying in the construction mess, so why would they discount?
I believe they did offer significant discounts and vouchers at Caribbean Beach when that was under construction. But I may be misremembering?

But I am not sure I will stay at Polynesian if it is under construction when we go. The primary reason I’m willing to pay Poly prices is the vibe. If that’s gone, then I lost my reason to stay there, haha.

If it does come back hopefully they will have a better quality of dinner. The show itself was decent but had some meh ratings with the dinner served bringing it down in guest satisfaction. HDD has always been the top rated dinner show and will never be knocked off as number one.
We actually really enjoyed the food. I think we went in 2019. The show was great. I wish they'd bring it back.

I see the issue of how much hula dancing can you stand to watch. The show was okay but the wife and I had way more fun at the Hoop De Doo Show in fort wilderness.

I think repeatability is also an issue.

We loved the hoop de doo when we first saw it but when you go back you can see where its scripted, still fun but you only want to see so many times.

The Luau I think had a bit more repeatability as you know its a show you are watching from the start (this was the original show so I don’t know how it changed before it closed).

I’d really love to see both and the old show at the contemporary we never saw - the more of the vacation kingdom of the world they can bring back the better!

You're right about Hoop. We usually do it every couple of years but this year, it just seemed kinda meh. I still say it's a good value for a dinner(which is very good) and a show that includes alcohol. I think I've just seen it so many times.

This got me to thinking. I miss Mickeys Backyard BBQ.

We miss it as well. A better representation of Western inspired entertainment without so much of the cornpone. More like nightly dining after the days events at the rodeos at home.

We've also done HDD many times and still enjoy it even though we know the way it progresses from start to finish. Several years ago we started doing some dinner theaters /shows off property in the Orlando area. The cost of Ubering there and back and the tickets are figured into our vacation budget and the off WDW time just adds more to our enjoyable vacation. There are a variety of things aside from Dis and Uni that can be pleasurable.

It wasn’t really cancelled. Just paused.
Ideally if Disney ever decides they need a second dinner show, ideally they should have more than two but that's besides the point, they should figure out a concept to replace this one even if they have to relocate. Need something to do in the evenings outside of Springs and the parks that generates revenue...

I agree. I actually really enjoy dinner shows and wish there was more than one option at Disney.

It really use to be a thing at WDW, but as expansion continued, they replaced most of them with dining which had a higher turnover. The original Top of the World (where the California Grill is now) had a Broadway style dinner show in all its polyester glory.

For a second I thought you meant the BBQ. Took me a minute to realize you meant that the new resort was paused.

I was like....
