Finally got to seeing this—wow, honestly it’s a substraction to the ride.

It just completely throws off the tone and the vantage points you get of it are honestly not even that good.

Another example where Disneyland comes out on top.
It'll never happen but my wish is that they remove him entirely, put a new animated suit of armor there and call it done. if it doesn't enhance, it doesn't belong. Simple as that.

He’s such a cool AA, his placement in DL is near perfect. MK decidedly not. I wish they would find a way to put him in the attic at MK and change the bride to the DL one or bring back the one with glowing eyes.

The AA is really great - I get the idea that he is free to roam the mansion / and beyond (travel between mansions, etc) so the "rules" don't apply to him, but if you don't factor that in, it is a bit jarring the location.

I still really like it and view it as a net positive, but could be better in a different location I think

I’ve seen him twice at WDW - I’m 50/50. He doesn’t really bother me where he is at - but it’s not the best place either.

I don’t like his place at Disneyland much either. To me he should be inside the attic.
The problem is his appearance destroys the logic of the Attraction in which no ghosts can fully materialize until Leota summons them. The only reason it is somewhat less objectionable is the interactive queue had already destroyed the logic of the Florida version back in 2011

If you saw the movie, he doesn’t follow the rules.
No one cares about that bomb. And hopefully the fact that it DID bomb will prevent further idiotic crap from that movie being shoehorned into the ride.

Hatbox was designed to be in the attic by the people who built the original ride (people who had actual talent in the field of theme park attraction design and knew what they were doing).

At least Disneyland got it somewhat right, even if it's not quite in the same placement as it originally was and is built with a somewhat different design/effect. I think he's a pretty good plus to the ride over there and at the very least doesn't screw with anything IMO. At WDW he throws off the pacing of the ride and also completely ruins the scene he's placed in, distracting from the iconic endless hallway setpiece. Even the lighting and colors they used for his section of the room is clumsily incongruent with the rest of the scene. Clashing horribly with it and further distracting away from where your eyes are supposed to be.

I'd say they now break even. WDW used to be the superior version. The WDW version still has the portrait gallery and endless stairway in the ride. (Yes, I'm aware the portrait gallery is part of the queue underneath the railroad tracks in the DL version). So Hatbox Ghost ghost distracting from the candelabra brings it down a notch to be on par with DL.

The movie is irrelevant to the ride.
Not anymore.

I do agree it takes the focus from the hallway; it’s just not that egregious to me. I’d prefer it in the attic; there’s plenty of stuff there that could be relegated to background - of course, then some version of purist would object to those changes.

Hatbox is fine where it is as an introduction. I’d like to see it moved to the attic after a few years.

Won’t lose sleep over it either way.

The attic makes the most sense. At some point, they'll update The Bride again like DL did. That would be a great time to move the Hatbox Ghost at the same time.

If they do a more full overhaul/update to the attic and find a great spot for him, that would probably be best. I think if they just like shoved him in to the current version it would feel forced and not geeat
