MK New Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge

I loathe this new WDW trend towards themed bars with little or no food. I'm not a teetotaler but spending large amounts on alcohol doesn't appeal to me, so it's very hard to find a justification to spend much time in themed spaces I'd otherwise love like Ogas.
I’m guessing that’s the idea.
It's a curated experience like Geo82 without a full bar or kitchen. There is a no mention on the menu for any sodas.
I find it hard to believe they wouldn’t have something on hand(?)
many regular beer drinkers may want a refreshing brew without the buzz
“Many” may be overstating it.
As for food, I applaud the octopus, that's a conversation piece
Agreed.

There are ways to make a place “not for kids” without banning kids outright.

I see this as a quick stop to make MK more enjoyable for those of us who do drink, without having to buy a meal (although I’ve done, for example, an appetizer and a cocktail at Tony’s.)

I won’t mind a couple of well-behaved kids with their parents as the exception in this small space, but having it cater specifically to kids would reduce the value of a stop. I could see 20-30 minute visits here and there. Hope I can get in on my birthday trip at the end of the month!

I would advise you to look at the menu again for this location. It's 45 minutes, two drinks per person maximum and 4 small bites available for purchase. Its not a full bar, but it serves listed alcoholic beverages and two non-alcoholic beverages. I believe its purposely limited in its offerings and time to dissuade barflies from camping out.
The best way to dissuade “barflies” is to not build bars. Also, don’t make the primary identity of one of your theme parks “the place to get drunk.”

I don’t know, hyperbole, exaggeration, or just sanctimonious bs of this post is just mind boggling. Seriously if you are just that old and out of touch stay home and dream of yesteryear.

First, offering a single location in the most visited amusement park in the world where people can stop to have a drink is not catering to bar flies. Nor is it all that strange or controversial. People enjoy differnt things. Some like you are stuck in the past. Others enjoy going on rides, visiting the mouse AND enjoying a drink or two while on vacation. This new location offers something that to this point wasn’t available in all of MK. You don’t like it….don’t go. Just like I don’t like Italian, so I don’t go to Tony’s. What I don’t do is look down on or complain about people who do and choose to go there. I save that for the vegans.

As to a park whose primary identity you say is “to get drunk”, have you ever actually left your computer screen in the past 20 years? Go up 95 to Daytona beach on spring break, head down to Miami on a Saturday night, or way up 95 to the Jersey shore board walks and then you will see locations that are built around and identity is to allow people to get drunk. Epcott isn’t even close to that. Even at the height of the food and wine festival you are in no way seeing/experiencing a bacchanalian spectacle. Epcott’s world showcase is built around the displaying of cultures from around the world, and to many many people, one of the features of a culture that they enjoy experiencing is there cuisine, which include food and drinks. These locations are forced to have bouncers and staff dealing daily with unruly drunks, as you would in truly drinking centric locations.

Times change, and that’s good. MK offering different things for everyone to enjoy is good. There wasn’t a need for that location to be just another quick service restaurant offering sodas and snacks, that you could get at any one of the other multiple locations throughout the park.

Really missing the mark X not offering: Treasure Trove Tacos, PB & Jelly Roger, Buccaneer Burgers, Black Pearl Bobo Tea, Cannonball Nuggets, Mermaid Shells and Cheese, Marooned Macaroons, Walk the Plank Potato Wedges...
Why would they want the place filled with kids eating a $12 kids menu item when the real $$ is adults drinking two $30-$40 drinks with an app or two?

I wonder why they didn’t redo Tortuga Tavern instead. It seems like they could’ve still had the theme and bar but served more people and also have more options.

I don't disagree with this take - BUT the concept art definitely shows plenty of families hanging out enjoying the atmosphere and I character CMs and Animatronic bird and the moving ship in an bottles, etc - this menu seems a little in contrast to the vibe that was giving - at least how I took it

I 100% and not looking for chicken fingers and chocolate milks - but just a couple more options that are a little simpler (flavored lemonade, etc) I think would be good vs just the two non-alcoholic drinks listed

It's still a bar.

this concept art doesn't scream "bar" to me ... This looks like family entertainment

If this is truly meant to be catering to adults without kids like a true "bar" then they didn't do a good job of early messaging/setting expectations

Out of the 30 guests depicted in the art, only two are kids. Wouldn't call this plenty of families when 90% of the tables are adults only. A highly themed space doesn't always mean its for kids nor does it mean kids couldn't enjoy themselves in here. This screams "bar" the exact same way Oga's Cantina screams bar and they're delivering exactly what what they original said they would.

That’s a very debatable statement.
Really, well i guess anything can be debated, but reasonably and realistically?

MK itself currently has around 11 separate quick service locations. This doesn't include small snack carts, the glorious spring roll cart, or the sit down restaurants. So tell me, what is the very debatable argument that rather than offering something new in the beverage department...AND still providing some food options, that they should have just gone with another standard 12th quick service location.

I don’t get the tables with benches.

I don’t think you want a space that small to appeal to everyone, otherwise it’s just something no one can get into - just doing the math.

That the dining capacity lost by the closures of the Adventureland Verandah and Tomorrowland Terrace still have not been fully replaced despite significant increases in visitation.
