I think it’s a reasonable guess with the caveat that there are projects that have been radically reworked very late in the process. So you agree with James that the design is probably pretty well set by now?

I suspect additional water was added.I think it’s a reasonable guess with the caveat that there are projects that have been radically reworked very late in the process.

First art piece showed some water and you were adamant there was plenty of water features.
Do you know if they shifted to include even more water or was this the original plan the whole time?
The original plan always included plenty of water.
Never would have been if they started with the garbage they have in there now.Country Bears were once "E-ticket."
I haven't been there since before the most recent version of the Country Bears. I don't see myself returning for the foreseeable future, if ever, although I live only two hours away. I loved the riverboat, and I also have great memories of the keelboats, the canoes, and the delightful "Frontierland" details along both the railroad and the Rivers of America ... but it was TSI where the majority of my fond Magic Kingdom memories were created. Two major reasons. First, it was where you could go at your own pace, ...no rush...taking as much or as little time as you were "exploring" in freedom and safety what was the most epic of playgrounds for a child of the 80s to experience. That ties into the second major reason: while exploring, Disney, in-a-sense, rewarded you with all of the details scattered throughout: the bird in the windmill, the details of the blacksmith, the "escape tunnel," etc...Most of the time "these discoveries were made" you were either by yourself or there were only a few others nearby. It not only allowed the imagination to "take flight," but it made you feel special, even important, within that imaginative discovery, like you found a treasure no one else knew about. That was the charm that set Disney apart in my opinion.Never would have been if they started with the garbage they have in there now.
County Bear's are much better liked now according to the satisfaction scores soNever would have been if they started with the garbage they have in there now.
Same. We went to that show one time in its original form. One and done. After the refurb, we’ve gone multiple times now. Were there Just a few days ago and we saw the same phenomenon: people actually singing along and clapping.County Bear's are much better liked now according to the satisfaction scores so
Definitely the right choice imo, when I went everyone was clapping, singing, and having a good time. And it was a pretty full house too.
We can split hairs on words, but we don't know what we will get till its done. Just look at the EPCOT renovation, yes, I know, pandemic, yada, yada yada. There is simply no way that Cars is “far from set”. That does not mean that things can’t change even after work gets underway, but they are certainly very far down the development pipeline.
That's not splitting hairs on words. It's saying 2 very different things. There is a world of difference from knowing that in any construction project, final designs/as-built conditions can change, versus making the unsubstantiated statement that the design is "far from set."We can split hairs on words, but we don't know what we will get till its done. I placed the exact same caveat on what I said that @lazyboy97o did. I said that the plans are almost certainly solid, but that does not mean the plans cannot change; it’s just that they’re not still waffling to any significant degree on their current intent, as was implied by the post I quoted. We can split hairs on words, but we don't know what we will get till its done. I was a child in the 70s when TSI first opened...I spent many hours over there exploring over the years... It was absolutely magical... Less so on my last visit thenre in June to say goodbye... But is was always an amazing place... Now thewre is nothing to "discover" and if there is you will need to pre-plan your lightning lane fast pass to "discover" it with ten thousand other people...I haven't been there since before the most recent version of the Country Bears. I am sure Imagineering has wonderful, beautiful designs. That's not splitting hairs on words. It's saying 2 very different things. There is a world of difference from knowing that in any construction project, final designs/as-built conditions can change, versus making the unsubstantiated statement that the design is "far from set."
I haven’t seen too much of a drastic difference. The old show would have people clapping along as well. Were there Just a few days ago and we saw the same phenomenon: people actually singing along and clapping.
Haha! Well done!I haven’t seen too much of a drastic difference. The old show would have people clapping along as well.
Since I BEARly remember Vacation Hoedown and the Christmas show - it doesn’t seem odd to me for the bears to sing other songs. The bears never = the classic show until Disney got lazy and stopped rotating the shows.
My theory - and would love to hear from insiders if I’m anywhere close or really far off -
The plan for Cars and Villians is far from set - and could even be drastically changed.
It made sense to make this decision while big thunder was down - and they knew that any future expansion would benefit from leveling the river so the last minute cars announcement was made as an excuse to start the plans into motion.
It’s not wishful - the riverboat is gone so I can’t wish for anything anymore. Haha.Wishful thinking, assuming you define "drastically changed" as in a completely new idea of a land and what's going in it.
The closest thing to TSI I can think of that remains in the Magic Kingdom is the Swiss Family Treehouse....but it's only one path to "choose," and if you dare linger, you'll annoy anyone standing right behind you. Don't get me wrong, I'm very grateful that it's still there (and I don't see it going away unless they also ax Jungle Cruise ... like they're allegedly planning with both in Tokyo), but the Magic Kingdom is for the first time in its history devoid of attractions where anyone of any age can stay and linger for as little or long as they'd like. As mentioned throughout this thread and elsewhere for the last 50+ years, all such attractions were welcome respites from both the crowds and from the attractions where you're either carried through like a cog on an assembly line or ushered in and out of like cattle (I'm not complaining; I understood why their formats must be in those ways ... I just lament that there's no real offset at the Magic Kingdom anymore). And I know the hub expansion was, in-part, done for people to have some place to decompress somewhat, but it's still out in the sun ... as crowds are going by you every which way.I was a child in the 70s when TSI first opened...I spent many hours over there exploring over the years... I’ll settle for Davy Crockett branded crocs.
