As I've said and it cannot be stressed enough, this round was absolutely full of just straight up masterpieces. All three of these parks can and should be nominated for best project at this year's Imagineering Awards and I think all three have an amazing chance at winning it. However, ultimately the task of making a decision comes down to me and having marinated for a week on it, I have made my decision. It was not an easy decision and eliminations were an even harder decision, but it's my final decision and so decisions decisions. Let's rip off the bandid.

Team Wonder- Oceans Beyond

This was a genuinely impossible choice and I bounced between two projects on who would be second and who would be third and my decision at the end of the day didn't come down to the quality of the attractions, park, or anything else, it really just came down to teamwork. I was really really disappointed in a couple of players here and I think that put a lot of strain on the other players. You guys knocked out some great lands, but between the people who were actually doing things being busy in real life, a lot ended up slipping by the wayside.

The Luca Vespa attraction, gyroball attraction, pretty much all of Polynesia, and pretty much all of Naboo were wonderful and phenomenal additions, and the map and art was the best of the bunch, but that difficult teamwork and subsequent loss of a lot of detail here and there ended up landing you guys in last place.

MVP: @Architectural Guinea Pig- I debated between three people here and almost even tied it for two, but upon further reflection, the map, the art, and cranking out an entire land yourself was enough to propel you to the MVP of the round!

Team Dream- Disney's Infinite Horizon

While I don't think this project was as beautifully done or perfectly represented as Team Wonder or Team Magic, it made up for it in sheer creativity. You guys had a lot of the same issues as Team Wonder in the detail front, but you were also a united front in your teamwork and that combined with the creativity and passion you all had for your various lands set you over enough into a second place victory! Cheddar Crater especially still wows me and I think it's a GOUDA thing you included it!

MVP- @Earlie the Pearlie- Once again, the maps here were phenomenal, your ability to pick up the smallest bits of project and help out your fellow players, and especially your work on Cheddar Crater gave you this slot!

Team Magic- Clockwork Kingdom

I wanted this to be a really tough decision and while I stand by all three parks being genuinely phenomenal, I think as soon as I read all three I knew Clockwork Kingdom was going to be first place. This is just such a triumph with some of the most fully fleshed out lands and rides, some of the most creative ideas, and just an overall sense of place that I don't know could've been topped. All three teams need to be very proud, but you guys have earned your second victory in this game!

MVP- @Outbound- While I doubt I need to explain it, Outbound was the person who I felt united this whole project between their work on the intro, helping fill in for incapacitated players, and amazing Crossroads City. Just like I knew Clockwork Kingdom would be first I knew Outbound would be MVP.

AMAZING work one final time everyone. No matter your place, you guys all need to pat yourselves on the back because everyone truly worked their a**es off. If I could make you all MVP I would, but alas, this is a double elimination and so both bottom teams will be losing a player.

In 19th place from Team Wonder we say farewell to @Disney Warrior

and

In 18th place from Team Dream we say farewell to @Disgruntled Walt

Warrior, you're a beloved member of this community but between not really contributing to brainstorming nor developing the land, I had to cut somebody and you were the decision I made. Thank you for playing and I hope to continue seeing you around!

As for Walt, this was a decision between two players who were both gone for periods of time which I never like to make, but ultimately I think your time off hurt you more than the other player who was up for elimination and so you have been eliminated.

Thank you to both players and to all teams. I will be updating the standings on the first page and will be making some team changes before round three so standby for those!
Wow, I really appreciate the high praise! While I adore Clockwork Kingdom, it was definitely a long road to get there and nothing is a straightforward journey. There’s always quirks we wish we could have accounted for, but with such a large project I’m really satisfied and I’m glad you enjoyed it as well @PerGron . The detail to all three reviews is really appreciated! Also big shoutout to all my team for each contributing so much to both the lands, entertainment, or brainstorming, as well as the other teams for their awesome parks! When I read both Infinite Horizons and Oceans Beyond I was certain ya’ll would take the win, they’re each amazing accomplishments!

I'm actually planning on applying for Architecture in college for the future, so these comps have helped me a lot in working on my digital art and strengthening my portfolio.
@Architectural Guinea Pig good luck! I just graduated with a BA in architecture and am starting my M.Arch this fall, feel free to reach out with any questions on applying.

So compared to the last few reviews, these are going to be much shorter just based on the actual length of the projects. Still, I hope I can do them justice because coasters can be pretty difficult to design and especially difficult to write and since most of us are not coaster heads, I think having a coaster specific round was a challenging idea hence why I included it. So now let's jump into the three reviews.

Team Dream- Kingda Ka

Designing a replacement for Kingda Ka will be an incredibly challenging for the people tasked with replacing it so I admire the bravery in tackling something like this. I will say, replacing Kingda Ka with... Kingda Ka is certainly not the angle I would have gone, but it does have precedence within coasters so I can respect the decision. I do think you could've dropped the Kingda Ka name and storyline and just done a ghost snake coaster pretty well, but I do understand the desire to tie it into the very popular thing that already is well-known.

I also want to throw some kudos at this team for dealing with the extra challenge of respecting one another's perspectives and beliefs. Coming from someone who loves to explore the macabre and occult with my backstories (I mean, just read the backstory for Lycan that I wrote back in SYWTBAI 19, it's definitely over the top supernatural evil even if I do stand by it as one of my best backstories ever) but when you have players that aren't comfortable with certain topics be it cults, curses, or anything else that anyone may not feel comfortable to handle it's important to keep that balance and I commend you guys for facing that challenge head on and with respect and tact.

Onto the backstory; it’s certainly interesting and I like the idea of tying in the snake and tiger elements, I just found it kind of weird and odd that a giant snake and giant tiger are tied directly into early American US history in New Jersey. The inclusion of scientists studying them and a US Government coverup just feels kind of odd for 1700s USA and that issue with the backstory for me makes it hard to really believe this storyline. I think ultimately this came down to having to make some changes to your story which ended up hurting it in the long run.

The coaster itself sounds very thrilling too, but the active comparisons in the write-up to what it's replacing just left me kind of underwhelmed. Again, I understand replacing Kingda Ka is a tall order and anything taking its place will be compared, but between the name, the story, and all of the comparisons in the writeup just straight up saying how different this is to the original attraction, it left me wishing that you guys had made this an original coaster rather than a sequel coaster. I do think the coaster itself is well-written and very strong, so amazing work to @Earlie the Pearlie who made this one of the stronger write-ups for a coaster I've read in a while.

A few other minor notes. @Brer Panther's artwork for the snake is absolutely beautiful and it's some of what I've been really hoping to see this entire game from them! Also, I think you guys did a good job with the Google Docs format and made it easy t o read and access. Overall, great job Team!

Team Wonder- Pinball Blizzard

First off, I want to throw out a huge kudos to @TheOriginalTiki who absolutely led this round with respect for the team but also a clear goal in mind that I think was executed brilliantly. Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is one of those parks I've never been to but I still know about solely due to being a history fan and I think it'd be a really brilliant location for a new themed roller coaster. The passion for this park from Tiki was palpable and it was awesome to see the team all come together on that pretty quickly and effectively.

The presentation being a site had me a bit concerned at the beginning just because this is a smaller project and having to click around for one attraction didn't appeal to me, yet once I clicked the link and got through it, I think you guys made the website format work beautifully. Sure, it's still maybe a bit clunky in the overall style of how sites work, but all of the moving art going on just added such a sense of wonder that sold the pinball theming for me. The logo by @Tegan pilots a chicken and the site design by @Architectural Guinea Pig just absolutely blew me away and if this tag team is going to continue working like this I may just have to split you up with how unfair it'll end up being. /s.

The theming of the coaster being a pinball game through the history of the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is fun and I can see it being an enjoyable attraction both for coaster enthusiasts and history buffs alike. I especially want to commend you guys for taking a few steps back because there was a bit of time where I was super concerned you were going to end up with a very convoluted group of ideas with pinball, history, ghost pirates, etc. all the stuff that managed to make it into the attraction but in a way that felt significantly more easy to understand that it initially seemed like it would be.

The coaster writeup itself was also pretty great, a pretty important thing for a round based around coasters, and I think ultimately all three were very solid. I liked the gags that were included here to give the whole pinball element more to do. I do feel that maybe the pinball element should've been more prominent in the attraction itself just because it is the theme you went with and the gags were really where those elements came in, but still you had a few bits that worked wonderfully like the launch which is obvious for a pinball themed coaster but also fits beautifully.

I appreciated the layout of the attraction, I loved the little pot shot taken at Curse of the Werewolf, and the addition of a small gift shop at the exit was an unnecessary but nice touch that I appreciated. Overall, this was a very solid coaster and while going into this I was expecting grand backstory and theming that way but you guys nailed it in a different but equally valuable way, so great job team!

Team Magic- Playmobil Epic Stunt Spectacular

(Sorry it took a while, tomorrow is my sister's birthday so I went out for dinner and didn't get this review up beforehand.)

Leave it to Team Magic to pick the wildest and most out there location for their coaster with the Playmobil Fun Park. This is a park I didn't even know existed (though it makes sense as a competitor of Legoland) and so I got to learn a bit about the park as well as enjoy your coaster so that's pretty neat. With players like @Outbound and @AceAstro on this team there's definitely going to be an element of strange and odd in the best way possible and I think the selection of this park is that in spades.

Making the coaster into a celebration of stunts and a tie-in to a Playmobil line is pretty clever as it gives you the opportunity to play with the land, sea, and sky theme that you ended up going with and that certainly makes for a well-rounded coaster experience. Stunts make for a solid coaster theme as well, it's that adrenaline-fueled experience that both stunts and coasters aim for. The reuse of the name from the old Hollywood Studios show is noted and I think maybe a little cheap as a name, but I can't knock your entire project because I didn't like the name.

The way you guys structured your presentation is beautifully done and so huge kudos once again to @Outbound for developing a super simple but super beautiful presentation style. I loved the pops of color and the way it felt like you were flipping through a catalogue and while I'm sure it's a really simple thing, it makes for a really interesting look that held my attention while reading.

The write-up for the queue by @Lord Fozzinator and the write-up for the coaster itself by @MickeyMousketeer were also incredibly well done and of all of the coaster write-ups from this round, I think this was the most well-executed from a description level so huge kudos there. The artwork by @Lizzy May Bee is also to be commended; I love when people do custom artwork and Lizzy is always someone I can trust to knock some amazing stuff out.

Overall, this is another killer project, but is it enough to give you guys a 3/3? Let's check the scores...

I hope that the smaller round was better for you guys than the huge design a park second round. I figured that one would be a lot so I structured it the way I did on purpose. Still, coasters can be difficult, especially outside of the comfort zone of Disney/Universal (and I almost cut SeaWorld/Busch Gardens too but it seems like that didn't matter either way) and I think all three teams did a great job. Still, we have to have a score and we have to have a winner, so without further ado...

Team Dream- Kingda Ka

While I definitely liked a lot of the skeleton (pun very much intended) of this project, the constant comparisons to its predecessor made this one feel less like an original project and more of a "we gotta put something there" type deal. The backstory was well written but didn't really work for me as the timeline felt weird and the monster stuff felt oddly inserted into the area. I think had you focused more on the snake stuff and removed the Kingda Ka of it all, this would've been a much stronger ride. You guys still did really well, it was just my least favorite for those reasons.

MVP: @Earlie the Pearlie- You put out a really strong coaster description that was really easy to visualize in my mind's eye, so for that immense hurdle so many coaster writers have, you got this one!

Team Magic- Playmobil Epic Stunt Spectacular

Unfortunately, your streak ended on the third, but that's nothing to be ashamed of. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire production here from the phenomenal art and presentation to the really great coaster description. This was a very difficult choice between the top two (and no, I did not put you second on purpose) but I think Team Wonder just edged you out with more pop and pizzaz. Still a phenomenal and fun original project.

MVP: @MickeyMousketeer- Another great coaster description where you nailed the vibe and energy of the experience. This was a lot of fun to read and as I've mentioned, coasters are tough to write so great job!

Team Wonder- Pinball Blizzard

You guys crushed this project with the passion behind it, some of the best teamwork I've seen this game so far, and a killer presentation and logo. While I think I did prefer the actual coaster itself for Playmobil, there's no denying this project as a whole still had so much oomf behind it and it was definitely a shoe-in for the win.

MVP: @TheOriginalTiki- This was the easiest decision I've had to make this whole game. You ran this round without ruling with an iron fist, instead leading the project that you were so in-the-know about and brought your team to a wonderful crescendo. Phenomenal work.

And with that, the first act of our game and also the last round as your current existing teams is complete. Before we go on to the next act, we do have to say farewell to one player from Team Dream. These choices are never made lightly but have to be made nonetheless.

In 17th place we have @Half/CartoonHalf/Human

You've played a great game and I understand being busy, but having watched your playstyle I feel that your teamwork has a bit of growing left to do and your schedule obviously hasn't really done you any favors (not at all your fault, I understand). I hope you've enjoyed playing and I welcome you to continue to follow along if you would like!

With that, I've got a bit of team swapping to do but I will have the next round and new team organizations up in a bit.

Alright, onto Act Two of the game! Here we will be tackling some of everybody's FAVORITE topics in these games... We've had our fun designing parks and lands, designing hard ticket events, and designing the coasters, but unfortunately in these games we almost always neglect some of the most important elements of theme parks: the dining. So for challenge four, we're going to rectify that...

Challenge Four: Dinner and a Show
Dinner and a Show.jpg

Who doesn't love a good sit down dinner? Who doesn't love some entertainment while you eat? We've got stuff like Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue, Biergarten, Sci-Fi Dine-in Theater, and so many others where the entertainment is provided while you dine on some of your favorite dishes. Sometimes the entertainment is ambience too, whether it be looking into a huge aquarium, or out at the vacuum of space, or into the Pirates of the Caribbean opening scene. However you approach it, some form of entertainment while you eat can always appease the growing number of screenagers visiting the parks.

Prompt: Design a new sit down restaurant for either a Disney, Universal, or SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment property.

These can be in a park, a hotel, a shopping district, or any other affiliated thing (Vero Beach, the new Uni park in Texas, etc.) but they must be tied to one of these three companies. The entertainment can be a show, a film, ambiance, looking into a ride, or some combination of whatever. It just must be unique and it must be entertaining.

The focus should be on how the restaurant works alongside the entertainment, not just a write-up of a show with very little food descriptions. Make sure the restaurant gets just as much focus.

This project is due Thursday, August 14th at 11:59 PM PST (2:59 AM EST, 1:59 AM CST, 3:59 PM PT)

I knew my time in the game was running up, & I felt it coming. If it wasn’t for the fact that Singapore (yes, I’m currently on vacation & went there) didn’t keep on give my a 403 forbidden screen when I tried to view the forums, I probably would have survived the elimination. Oh well, things just happen, I suppose.

But now, I can start working on my own personal projects, & yes, I would like to continue following along with the teams. Thanks for having me here, everyone!
