MK New Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge

Little crazy that opening day is D23 weekend. Glad I'm going to the convention, but that makes reservations even harder to get here at the bar. See everyone at 6am on the 14th for battle of the reso!

I also love the pirate tiki mug (very one eyed willy from Goonies) and the octopus tentacle. Hoping for some special effects or secrets in the bar as well.

If there was anything exciting on it, it wouldn’t be a kid’s menu, lol. Assuming it’s the universal kid’s menu of chicken tenders, burgers, noodles and pizza.
I would say the opposite. They did not build a full service kitchen for this bar to my knowledge. I would guess there is no kids menu. The little "kitchen" they did add would be no more than refrigeration, a speed oven, and some plating space. That is why the food menu is so small with more than half coming from a commissary kitchen and is loaded in a couple times a day.

Well darn. My son will subsist on air and one bite of a Mickey bar as per usual then.

Gonna try to get a reservation for my trip, specifically during the Halloween party!

Same, but probably not for the Halloween event.

This looks promising, and I am always up for trying something new.
Interested to hear more about the entertainment / setting enhancements.

Wishing you good luck in scoring a spot during your visit, matey!
Arrrr….!

🍻

to each their own, but this isn’t grabbing me very much. interesting drinks, food choices doesn’t interest me. i wouldn’t go out if the way for this.
I honestly think it a miss. It'll be a hit for a while just on newness and then the cracks will start to appear with them having to slowly integrate a watered down menu, more kid-friendly fare and new "show" elements. Not wishful thinking, I genuinely see it as the only way forward. But maybe I'm just against the concept. We'll see. How's Epcot's Geo 8675309 doing?

I will say the menu has some unusual choices….
Not sure this will drive in the ‘foodies’ and I’m not sure if your typical tourists will fancy the selections.

I personally enjoy seeing something ‘different’ for a change.
But yeah, some of the options are a bit exotic for some…I can see that.

Would pirates eat this kind of grub, though?
Seems a bit too fancy for that lot…

I am honestly curious now; has this new bar at Epcot been a flop as a few people have now suggested?

In terms of this one, as an adult who likes a cocktail and a themed bar it looks good to me. In terms of whether it will go downhill, well, we'll see. That just seems like an argument for them to never open anything, though.

I loathe this new WDW trend towards themed bars with little or no food. I'm not a teetotaler but spending large amounts on alcohol doesn't appeal to me, so it's very hard to find a justification to spend much time in themed spaces I'd otherwise love like Ogas.

On a much more profound level, it seems like another massive step away from Disney resorts' mission of creating spaces that can be enjoyed by all ages together - the dining establishment equivalent of the spate of thrill coasters WDW has built. In a more general sense, while I don't begrudge anyone as many drinks as they like, I feel the recent emphasis on booze at the resort, particularly at EPCOT and its "drinking around the world" culture, to be more then a little unsavory. Frankly, I wish they'd bring back Pleasure Island to create a contained, heavily-themed environment for adults who wanted to imbibe and not make it a selling point of the parks.

Too early to call Geo-82 a flop, imo. The novelty is still there.

The Beak and Barrel is a different 'animal', yes it's a bar/lounge, but the vibe I get is fun-family friendly, unlike Geo-82 which is adults-only with a relaxing upscale atmosphere.

The Beek and Barrel's food menu isn't appealing to me, a couple of cocktails look good, but tbh, with the show elements, and kids allowed, the place will likely be too noisy for my taste. Most likely a once and done for me.

I very rarely drink alcohol anymore- kidney issues- but one thing I really dislike about many NA cocktails, and the 2 offered here in particular, is how overwhelmingly sweet they tend to be.

It’s easy and possible to make NA cocktails that are balanced; any decent mixologist can do it. Barring that, at least offer an NA beer.

I realize that these ‘lounges’ aren’t made for nondrinkers, but Disney Parks, while improving, still lag behind other entertainment spaces in regard for the availability and quality of their NA beverages. They mostly seem to be aimed at kids, which, fair, it’s Disney, but…
