A hotel! Done in the modern Disney Hilton style! What a great use for a huge MK expansion pad.

We have some family friends who come from old money *and* are now into the private equity game. The wife went to WDW (didn’t like it) but loved going to Swan and Dolphin because the amenities were so nice and there wasn’t in-your-face themeing all over the place.* That is the sort of customer they are chasing now.

*suffice it to say, were the opposite. The more grandiose themeing, the better!

It’s my understanding that there’s barely space for a ride half the length of RSR.

Lots of assumptions... but yes... I think maxing out elevation changes and using a better layout than I drew, I can't see it topping ~3,000 feet of track length.

Took a crack at the ride layout on google maps and put Luigi's from DCA behind the cabin. Track length would be ~2,250 feet (not including elevation changes). For reference test track is 5,246 ft and I couldn't find a track length for RSR but AI thinks it's about 4,200 feet.

It’s not possible because we have been assured many times the only reason we had to lose ROA is because the precious expansion pads needs to be saved for future actual expansion.

I agree. And I think putting a hotel in a place available for park expansion is pretty crappy. What could be enjoyed by millions of guests would instead be used by a fraction of that.

I’m aware of various types of wildlife inhabiting the RoA and surrounding area, but I never saw any fish or signs that fish were present, other than maybe a heron patrolling the bank looking for minnows. If there were/are fish that got in via the canal from 7 Seas, I don’t think it’s some large population.

Yes there are fish in the RoA. I’m no fisherman so I cannot identify any but I have seen them before.

Though both slot cars have high speed sections and I very much expect this goes show building-like speeds. Also yea, ride time definitely will be shorter than RSR, though not as bad as the track length differential would suggest.

Probably more comparable to look at Big Thunder next door.

I personally love the idea that the concept of Frontierland is evolving in a way that represents different aspects of America’s frontier and nature. It reminds me of childhood trips of seeing all the National Parks and what encompassed America’s beauty. I appreciate that we’ll have a concept that is slightly different and unique.

If I had to guess, they’ll simply drop the river and then take a bulldozer to the boat and the rafts. The boats go down with their river

I personally love the idea that the concept of Frontierland is evolving in a way that represents different aspects of America’s frontier and nature. Let’s be clear and honest: the “concept of Frontierland is evolving” only insofar as it permits them to shoehorn an IP into that area of the park.

I love the rivers. But it was not being used like other parks. Disneyland has Fantasmic on their river. Paris has Thunder on their island. It’s a beautiful area and I can’t fault that. However, I am more interested in geysers that look like Yellowstone or mountains like the Rocky Mountains. That’s just going to be my preference.

so wouldn’t the answer be to add to the rivers and use them better?

Why does a beautiful space that is absolutely integral to the aesthetic and storytelling of a third of the park and three of its biggest headliners need to be more “used?” Magic Kingdom did not lack expansion space. This position makes sense only if you have huge amounts of Disney stock.
