MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

It is not appropriate to call it Blue Sky because it is not Blue Sky. Disney’s Feasibility phase and approval to move forward with rare exception happens after Concept Design. The phases of design are specifically named and referenced throughout the design process.

My bad, my poorly conveyed point was that blue sky had already occurred before they announce things. As you’ve shown announcements are way after.

Very helpful slide, thank you!

By the way…. Those slides remind me - I’m currently reading “Dream Chasing” by Bob Weis - which is fantastic. He mentions early on that Disneyland was built without Xerox machines and that even up to Tokyo Disneyland was built without computers.

It’s amazing how far we have come with technology but just like with CGI vs. hand drawn animation - lots of charm gets lost when the human touch gets replaced with computers. While not specific to this expansion - it’s probably one of the reasons Tony, Kevin, and Joe’s projects felt so “right” - they started in that same generation that Bob W. did.

Great read, one of my favorites from the Imagineer books along with Marty's.

Say what you will about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (I certainly do), but the outside looks quite nice. I am confident that they can build something that fits the area and provides a lush, vibrant landscape.
Yes, Galaxy's Edge, Pandora, and Tiana's certainly show Disney is still capable of producing very good enviroments.
I believe they can pull this off very well if it doesn't get severe cuts.
They mentioned Grizzly Peak, and if they go that in depth with it this can look great.
Please leave the river section between the Frontierland walkway and the rockwork.

Just back. Tom Sawyer's Island was well populated, which was - though bittersweet- also fun. Parts of it are in sad shape, but people were roaming the island and really appeared to be enjoying the island for what it is. Like there were people sitting at the checkers table. In the past, that was a regular thing. People would sit in the middle of MK playing checkers.

It rained a little while I was sitting on the deck at Aunt Polly's sipping a cup of ice water, and that was kinda cozy. The sun came back out, and a family was laughing as they crossed the barrel bridge, with a dad encouraging his sons to cross the bridge. He assured them they would not fall into the water, and they squealed with joy when they made it across.

The island and fort were full of families taking time to explore and discover all the little nooks. Two young ladies were walking past the whitewashed fence, and one of them said, "Oh, this is the part of the book I most remember, when Tom convinced all his friends to paint the fence! Instead of a chore, they all had fun!"

In the middle of the island, I got great photos of the flowers and a number of anoles. Each was perched atop a fence post or tree trunk, and several were displaying their red dewlaps. Sigh. They are about to lose their little territories. There were a number of butterflies flitting about. There are also a number of beautiful trees on the island, covered in little ferns and such.

Later, after dark, I made a point of walking along the docks to enjoy one of my favorite sections of MK. It is just beautiful along the water at night, with all the lantern-style lights. The paddleboat looked beautiful and majestic, docked for the night.

A solo visitor was taking photos of her. Then the young man stopped, paused for a silent moment, gave the boat a long salute, and discreetly wiped away a tear. It was a touching sight.

Sigh. Such a loss!

I believe the majority of the prior Beyond Big Thunder proposal was looking towards the yet to be leveled 11 acre laydown yard. There very likely was a variety of proposals and some shortening of the ROA considered along with back stage utilization of Big Thunder. But that’s the roughly boundaries of the plot they were circling around back in 2022.

What I’m still not quite sure of and perhaps some more informed posters (@lazyboy97o ) might have some ideas… why exactly are they prepping so much lay down? It seems a bit excessive to me.
So my questions is do we think they may end up using some of the 11 acre laydown yard as part of Villains land? I get that would mean going either under or over the rail tracks but it would allow for a seperation of Villains from MK almost like a mini park.

The acreage promised us fits within the tracks.

That doesn't mean they won't go past the tracks either for Villainous or some other future project. But, there's nothing indicating that they must go past the tracks.

I like this idea. So it would be a second entrance in for an upscale resort like Boardwalk and Yacht and Beach do for EPCOT.
I think this would become the new premiere hotel... the upscaliest of upscale (along with the highest prices).

Think Fantasy Springs at TDL. Including a private entrance to MK. I personally would also make a secondary parking lot that annual pass holders can pay extra to access so they can skip the TTC.
