To each their own! It's always felt like a cramped hallway to me, but maybe it's because I know they're screens and my brain isn't letting itself be immersed. I still think some physical elements on top of the screens would be much better- have the more energetic/moving creatures be screens and the calmer/still ones be physical animatronics.

They could definitely have some AAs of sleeping animals or something -- but think that would potentially push the ride to a D ticket and it was always intended as a C.

I think the plants etc. in front of the screens are what make them work. If it was just screens, it would be terrible, but since they're integrated into the physical sets and scattered around they work nicely. That's why I think it might be the best use on any Disney attraction -- most Disney rides that use screens have literally everything on the screen in front of you with no physical aspects whatsoever, and it's just impossible to feel transported/immersed (at least for me).

In some ways the Shaman AA is bad for the ride. Obviously it's incredibly impressive (it's probably the best AA currently at WDW), but it's E ticket level in a C ticket ride, and by putting it at the very end it kind of throws everything off.

Audiences just don't seem to like original films, especially original animated sci-fi films. Despite how much we want original stories, the average person just wants more of the same they've already seen because it's a safe pick.
What about The Wild Robot? That was original and half sci-fi and it did well.
Also: Disney thinks they know what the fans want, but that's the issue- you can't go off what the audience wants, you have to TELL them what they want. Audiences as a whole are stupid- they don't know what they love until you give it to them. If they love something already and you keep giving it to them, they won't love it as much as you think they will.
Exactly!

I genuinely forgot that was a sci-fi movie. It's fantastic, one of my favorite animated movies in recent years, but even though the main character is a robot my brain sees the wilderness setting and doesn't think of sci-fi, lol. Chris Sanders was behind that one, and it's interesting that out of the few sci-fi originals that were successful, he was behind two of them.

maybe you need to ride it again... there is a good mix of physical and screens...throughout... It is just the lack of any sort of storyline that would make it feel like you have been on a journey...

Not to be pedantic, but The Wild Robot isn’t an original film - it’s based on a (lovely) book by Peter Brown.

I second this. I watched this film for the first time recently and if someone turned on this movie for me without telling me who made it I would have guessed Pixar. That’s how good it is.

DreamWorks really knocked it out of the park with The Last Wish and The Wild Robot, and I’m pretty sure those were both done by a lot of the same people given the art styles are very similar. Their other movies recently though haven’t been great, and Shrek 5’s possibly plot leak looks really bad. We need more from the Last Wish and Wild Robot team(s)!

9 years since this thread was started. It’s insane that there has still not been any solid plans for this building.
Or just have ran that Stitch attraction for a decade longer then. Stich didn't fit TL and was the worst attraction to occupy that space, but it wasn't completely bad either. And certainly better than 'yet another unused space in the busiest and most crowded Disney park while great experiences elsewhere get ripped out to create space'.
