News Avatar Experience coming to Disneyland Resort

In all fairness in the same blog post last week they called its a "Destination" and an "Experience". When before they were just calling it an "Experience". The added descriptor of "Destination" might be meaningful here, or it might also just be more PR speak. For example what if "Destination" signifies that we'll be "transported" somewhere via a "portal" and so its not a traditional land transition. This could be a reason why they wouldn't call it a land in order to keep up being transported to a different physical locale.

Exactly. Its a destination or an experience because its not a "land" at the park because we are being transported there from somewhere else - Hollywoodland/ DCA.

Then doesn't that indicate more that on the DCA map it will be listed as its own location (land) and not part of Hollywoodland? I mean how can you be transported from Hollywoodland but still be IN Hollywoodland?

No because I think the thought process is they don't want us to feel like Pandora is at DCA probably because of all the complaints of how it doesn't fit at DCA. Hollywoodland would be the starting point. I dunno, like I said I think it's unnecessary. These same people named a land in the park Performance Corridor.

Avatar 4 and 5 are taking place on earth and Pandora. It's possible California is a setting in those movies. I'll give James Cameron the benefit of the doubt.

I mean if I read a map and it says that XYZ experience is IN ABC land then I assume its part of ABC land, not its own location no matter what "portal" I step through to get there.

So to me the only way they could have it be its own location is to not be part of another land.

I provided an example of a storyline earlier that would work for what I think they re going for.

The "hot set"? Yeah that makes no sense to me in this context. If this was 2001-2005ish I might be inclined to agree that would be a way to go. But as they've been removing every aspect of the "faux set" from most Disney Parks for the past 15ish years I don't see them going back to that. The Backlot is the last remain vestige of that, and I hope its completely wiped off the map permanently with this redo and doesn't remain in any way.

No not the hot set. The other idea. Same post I believe.

Maybe I missed what you were getting at then, because all I got was "backstory" and that lead to talking about the "hot set". So I guess I don't understand what you mean by "backstory". How does 1920ish Hollywoodland lead to another world as a "backstory"? Especially one what is meant to be set 125 years in the future.

My point was more towards the people saying "Avatar doesn't belong in California/ DCA." Apologies if that wasn't clear.
I'm pretty confident in the Avatar attraction being great and the best Avatar attraction yet.

No apology necessary. I think it’ll be great too. Very very strong chance of being the best Avatar attraction for sure. Would be a huge let down if it’s not better than a simulator or C ticket boat ride.

The company currently has greenlit 11 original new to us E tickets (maybe 1-2 end up being a D), 4 various effort E ticket overlays and I’m not even dipping into Tokyo or Abu Dhabi. It’s all on track for this decade; that’s a tremendous level of development.

I think there’s a non insignificant chance this is the best one of the lot.

Isn't it just listing what we already knew? Off the top of my head the announced rides are:
1. Avatar
2. Coco
3. Avengers
4. MK Cars
5. Door coaster
6. DAK Encanto
7. Paris Lion King flume
8. Shanghai Spider-Man coaster
9. Hong Kong Tower of Spider-Man
If you include the rides in the Villains Land concept art that makes it 11.
Although I think Indy and Test Track are the only E-ticket overlays we know of. There are the replacements for MuppetVision and ITTBAB but those aren't anywhere near E-ticket level.

here's how. ignore my crude drawing, and black is monorail. Did my best to match concept art of new gate and avatar experience. biggest hope is they update existing hollywoodland since its staying

I thought he was only referring to domestic projects ?

But maybe I’m delusional. 😂

My point was that I think the Pandora boat ride could be the best of a dozen announced original weenie attractions worldwide (I forgot new Tokyo Space Mountain).

It was meant to highlight my enthusiasm for this project. Why is that random?
