I remember Californian Elitist called Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland a "cancerous growth" and said multiple times how she would never enter that part of Disneyland. She said it destroyed ROA. Three months after it opened, she went with George Lucas on a Bench to Galaxy's Edge and wrote a review about how detailed the land was and how she enjoyed the Falcon ride.

I've never seen a case where someone stuck to their boycott. I didn't go to the place for two years and I was all for the expansion.

I don’t care for GE as a land, but at least in that situation, the beloved Frontierland section of DL was tastefully modified and retained (thank you, Fantasmic, for any role you might have played in those decisions.)

SW was—at the time—something people wanted. Did anybody ask for more “Cars” ANYWHERE???

And this is an extremely easy personal boycott for me to stick to, because they’re destroying my favorite part of MK (my least favorite WDW park) and Universal Orlando is so incredibly fun right now.

I’ll be realistic about my plan:

1) Not spend another dime at MK (easy to do because until all that construction is done…eeeewwww.) And when it’s done I’ll only give it a go IF it turns out Frontierland still has a solid Wild West presence and hadn’t been turned into watered-down, timid, corporate-speak, bland, gutless applesauce. Not mentioning any other recent MK “reimaginings,” but…

2) Avoid spending money at WDW at all except for the Disney Springs Lego Store and Earl of Sandwich. And Ghirardelli. And Blaze.

3) Let my AP expire and only repurchase if the local pass is still the great bargain it’s been so far AND the new Test Track is genuinely an improvement.

There. I think that gives me options and saves me money. But if/when Epic Universe is added to the Universal AP, then… Having no Disney AP and taking one visit a year to Epcot and AK would be enough WDW for this particular theme park fan.

You forgot to include the funniest part of the story. She went during CM previews so not only did she go but she went before damn near the rest of the world.

I miss Californian Elitist’s contributions. We sometimes disagreed on particulars, but she’s a well-spoken and intelligent person to trade thoughts and opinions with. A good presence.

I wish Disney would reintroduce Skyway for MK. Would have been perfect traversing between Piston Peak and Storybook Circus assuming such an idea possible and there wasn't a giant castle structure in the way. Would fit the themes of Piston Peak.

Yes, but Skyway gave great views of DL and MK. Skyliner gives great views of mud, retention ponds and traffic. I still like it a lot, though.

Actually, I’m ok with no Skyway. Because certain individual brat kids would spit on people. Over the years, I got struck twice. And that was in the 70’s.

I'm sorta guilty of this also.

I had said I'd never ride Tiana's, and then I got invited to go to Disneyland for the cm preview. I wasn't gonna turn down a free day at Disneyland, and I don't think previews count towards ridership metrics so I'll never go on it again. And I've mostly blocked it from my memory

My other "boycott" was saying I'd never pay to go to Disneyland again after the Splash change. Every time I've gone since has been for free.

I loathe Galaxy's edge. I only go there maybe once every 5 or 10 trips if I'm with a group that wants to go. I have to balance my strong opinions with being a functioning member of a friend group hahaha

I got to try out Tiana Bayou Adventure. I can say I rode it once and I have not much desires after that. Disney killed Slash Mountain.

You get some awesome views of Dhs from a distance, the CBR river and buildings, World showcase and overview of france and international gateway as well.

Why didn’t anyone tell me that the fried chicken baos from Docking Bay were delicious? Wild the value difference for two of them (decent sized) for $14 vs that ridiculously tiny bao I ate earlier for $9.

I’m glad you pointed out the better sights—and, truly, any aerial view can be fun, and Skyliner is certainly fun; I just don’t think it’s as fun as a transport ride inside a park. But Skyliner is useful, efficient, and free to ride. No downside.

Oh I don't know it's the seeing things were not suppose to see that adds to the enjoyment. A birds eye view of what Imagineering gets to see. Sort of the same when the emergency lights go on in dark rides. I just thought it would fit thematically in National Park themed area but I see your point as well.

I did get a kick out of a Skyliner trip last year from DHS to Epcot when a woman sitting across from me glanced out toward a fenced area and calmy said to her friend, “Oh, look. I guess that’s where they store all their rainbows.”

I thought she was being sarcastic, but then I looked out the window and, sure enough… a lot full of big fiberglass rainbows.

WDW is replacing Rivers of America with Piston Peak. I can think of an alternate spelling.

So, the company that replaced grass with astroturf, and took away plastic straws is now celebrating the internal combustion engine (thematically) and off-road racing? Have I got that right?

Y’know, I’d actually sort of enjoy this concept if it was going ANYWHERE ELSE in WDW. But this change just kills anything I liked about MK for me. Done.

Same. Magic Kingdom was once a truly gorgeous, charming park; the handiwork of the first generation of Imagineers is all over that place, if you're willing to look for it. It just feels so watered down (and paved over) these days.

I spent a couple days at WDW a few years ago for the first time in a decade, and my half-day at MK felt like a real "farewell tour" -- and that's before I even knew they were replacing Country Bear Jamboree, the Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Belle. When I make a trip out to Epic in the near future, I'll probably pop into Pandora and maybe visit my beloved Tower of Terror. But there's just no reason for me to visit Magic Kingdom anymore. Kind of bums me out.

Future trips to WDW for us are days at Epcot, AK, and maybe a 1/3-1/2 day at Studios for some favs.

MK is a hard pass these days. Will only do a quick single visit in the next few years to see Hall of Presidents then back to Epcot.

Just to echo what the previous few posters have said, the last 15 years or so to me Magic Kingdom has been the least enjoyable of the four WDW parks. It seems more stressful, hotter, busier, louder etc. Taking out one of its few remaining ‘calm’ areas is only going to make this worse. I can see my next trip being only Epcot and AK. Something I’d have thought was blasphemous not all that long ago.

Yep, and some of the comments made in the last few pages absolutely reinforce why she doesn't post here anymore.

Singling her out specifically for something multiple people here have done. No wonder she's decided it's better to move on.

I mean, you have to admit it was a funny/ ironic twist going from saying “you’ll never set foot somewhere” to going during CM previews. I doubt she cares what anyone thinks or she wouldn’t have shared that information with us. Any one of us would have done the same and took advantage of going during a CM preview.

I agree with the sentiment though- most times anyone around here says they aren’t going to do something they end up doing it. I had some strong comments immediately after the Splash retheme was announced. Didn’t say I’d never go to Disneyland again but close.

I always take the "never going to..." as a lot of bluster. Working in retail during my younger years, I've had several irate customers say they'd never shop at the store again, only to show up a couple of weeks later.

Same thing goes for everyone that says they will let their AP expire. I have a feeling it rarely happens. I hear some places like Sea World automatically renew the AP for another year. You have to contact them to remove that "feature".
