Pete’s Construction Commotion

vlcsnap-2025-05-18-18h15m23s623.png
It’s always busy whenever construction’s going on in Toontown, or so it looks...! Cranes and steam shovels - in reality the spokes for this scrambler ride - work together not to give workers important materials, but to give guests a dizzying, disorienting spin around the site.

Community Chest
From inside foreman Pete’s hut, a short, looping film reel shows clips of the construction crew’s current progress (inspired by or from Building a Building) and relays out the all-important safety precautions.

Diddy’s Jungle Beat
IMG_6336.jpeg

Being placed near Donkey Kong’s Mine Cart Madness (both versions, ideally), Diddy’s Jungle Beat would be a twist on the typical teacups ride, where the vehicles would be DK’s animal friends, with each one being equipped with a pair of bongos. The way the bongos would play into the ride is through a rhythm mini-game, with guests all being invited to drum along to a random song from the DK series, with the most accurate drummer in a session being rewarded with a small sticker of one of the DK crew/an animal buddy. The finishing touch that would tie the ride together would be a Diddy Kong animatronic that would stand in the center of the animal buddies and dance along to the jams!

Community Chest: The character giving the safety spiel (and the instructions on how to play the game) would be Diddy Kong himself, speaking in the haha funny voice from the old cartoon (look it up).

Beta & Gamma’s Flight Training

IMG_0644.jpeg

Continuing with the trend of adding more family rides at Tokyo DisneySea, a brand new flat ride based around Pixar’s Up is added to the Lost River Delta section of the park, with it not being another Dumbo clone, but rather a set of 4 modified Flying Scooters (To not make them too close to the ground, but more up in the air). The ride is based around a flying school for Charles Muntz’s dogs, where they learn to fly their own airplanes, as seen in the movie.

Community Chest

As you’re just about to board your airplanes, a set of randomized safety recordings play out, either being said by one or multiple characters, with them being Russell, Dug, Alpha, & of course, Beta & Gamma.

Twisters
1748046068318.png

After being unceremoniously dumped from Universal Studios Orlando, the Twister franchise makes it return in the form of Twisters, a dueling Top Spin ride attraction that places guests in the path of an F5 tornado. Following the premise that guests have arrived at a weather conference to check out the newest innovation in neighborhood storm shelters among other hi tech tracking mechanisms, the dual Top Spin attractions face each other surrounded by the impenetrable TF-1000 containment units on the show floor as they take a seat to get a feel for the comfort. No sooner are they strapped in, warning signs blare of an approaching F5 and Twisters gets a real-life field test as the shell briefly rattles before folding off as the Top Spins go into action followed by numerous maneuvers accompanied by wind, sparks and water effects harkening back to the original attraction.

Glen Powell reprises his cocky character from the Twisters film in the queue as he discusses the various safety features within the TF-1000 via a video feed from his truck.

Be Our Guest!

1748061463262.png

Step into a tale as old as time in Be Our Guest!, a highly themed flat ride experience coming to Magic Kingdom replacing the Be Our Guest Restaurant in Fantasyland (and parts of the existing facade, transforming the area to include a life-size version of Beast's Castle similar to the one in Tokyo). Using Intamin's Dynamic Motion Stage ride system, which is essentially a technologically advanced teacups ride, guests are transported into the grand dining hall of Beauty and the Beast, where Lumiere and company perform the iconic and thrilling sequence from the movie. With more than 30 limited motion and advanced animatronics (some of which only appear on specific times of the day for breakfast, lunch and dinner), the attraction is more than a flat ride - it's a show stopping experience for everyone to enjoy!

Community Chest Bonus: Lumiere, as expected, handles the safety spiel: "Bonjour! Je suis Monsieur Lumière, and I am your host for today--keep your hands, arms, legs, and feet on the plate at all times, and don't forget to watch your children!"

Baltic Avenue Reviews

I tried to be brief here, but I err towards the verbose and some of these are a bit too long. Don’t worry if your review is longer or shorter than others, I probably just went on a tangent! I’ll be mostly scoring based on creativity, but realism and perhaps presentation will factor in as well.

Anakin’s Pod Racer

@OvertheHorizon

This is an interesting concept to start us off! I suppose my first question would be exactly which Galaxy’s Edge this would be going to; Disneyland has plenty of Dumbo-style spinners, but Hollywood Studios could use one. Nevertheless, I like your proposed placement, as both Galaxy’s Edges need something for younger guests. I wish there was a bit more detail here to really flesh out what this experience would entail!

Community Chest: There’s always a bigger fish… and, in the case of Galaxy’s Edge, a constraining timeline I’d bid good riddance to!

Groot’s Uproot

@Disney Warrior

Adorable! Your attention to detail here is commendable; the backstory and the height of the structure in particular stand out to me. I’m not sure if DCA really needs another flat ride, specifically a drop tower, given the existence of Jumpin’ Jellyfish, but that doesn’t diminish the cuteness factor this sure-to-be-fan-favorite would hold!

Community Chest: I am Groot!

Barrels of Monkeys

@Brer Panther

This sounds more fun than a… some idiom that I just can’t seem to remember. You’ve identified a “kiddie land” that could really use some more flat rides, in a park that could really use some more capacity. Well done! I appreciate the low-stakes nature you’ve aimed for here, as it really feels like a family-friendly flat ride - absolutely textbook in the best way possible. The Ham animatronic would give this otherwise simple spinner just enough oomph to make it a classic Disney experience. And an organ grinder to provide the sure-to-be-catchy soundtrack? Incredibly charming!

San Fransokyo Super Flight

@Disgruntled Walt

This is the first of a fair few entries with novel (for the Mouse and the Globe, at least) ride systems; I had never heard of a Troika before, so I appreciated your image, which illustrates the experience quite well. The Baymax ride vehicles give this a charming kind of modern Dumbo flair, as well! I like the proposed placement of this ride, although it runs into similar pros and cons as Groot’s Uproot. The proposed surrounding screen brings this closer to a simulator, which elevates the experience above the traditional flat… although perhaps taking it a bit too far away from the ride system’s roots in the process. I’d like to learn more about the proposed ride film, as well: I’d love to see what this ride would cook up!

Community Chest: You nailed the tone of Baymax as a character with this!

We All Need A Bigger Boat

@Lord Fozzinator

With the Aquatopia going the way of the dodo, this is a great way to revitalize the ride system. The map demonstrates how this ride would be laid out in a way that words couldn’t - you have a real talent for these! The preshow and name of the shark (KEVIN!) contrast with the ride experience in the best way possible, giving this some of that goofy scary-yet-silly Alien Encounter and Dinosaur energy which brings me life. I do have a couple of small nitpicks that hold it back a bit: it’s a bit too similar to the existing Jaws boat ride, and the necessarily shallow water of the Aquatopia would probably restrict the scare factor of the brilliantly included circling shark fins. Still, this is an overall well-rounded concept, further elevated by the fantastic map!

Community Chest: The Dinosaur vibes are intensifying…

Bambi’s Woodland Multi-Carousel

@Tony the Tigger

This is a cute idea. I love the details of the carved center pole, and the story cylinder - it’s certainly unique! I wonder if it’s feasible to try to tell a complete story in this kind of attraction, as I don’t think any one rider would be able to see the whole thing in one go. Perhaps taking a more impressionistic approach would better suit both this property and attraction? There’s a lot of creativity in this ride system usage!

Droid Assembly Spin

@PerGron

This would serve as an excellent expansion for DHS (thank you for noting that!). I admire the use of the scrambler ride system; it’s yet another model that Disney and Uni have not tackled, but would provide a wonderful new ride type to the parks! I love the detail of its location near the Droid Works, as well, as it makes the experience feel much more tangibly real. Additionally, I commend you for sticking to Galaxy’s Edge’s timeline! Your incorporation of interactivity, physical elements, and special effects make for a delightfully destructive, yet well-scaled adventure!

Community Chest: One of my biggest problems with Smuggler's Run is the fact that Honda kind of just appears, but introducing a more obscure character in the personage of Babu Frik by placing him in a vignette with the near-universally known R2 solves this problem expertly!

Revenge of the Phantom of the Opera

@D Hulk

Epic Universe, like any brand new park, needs more capacity ASAP, especially within Dark Universe, so this is a wonderful location for a flat ride. And what a flabbergasting flat ride this is! I love the contrast between the opera house and the morbid scenery and props. If any modern theme park could pull off a take on Tomb Raider: The Ride, it’s certainly Universal. There’s two masterstrokes in particular here: the synchronized organ score, and the chandelier finale (you’ve found a way to leverage my affection for musical theater!). My only criticism? I’m not sure how well an opera house, even a derelict one, would fit into the Darkmore Village.

Community Chest: Written by Dark Universe’s resident composer Danny Elfman, I presume?

Lantern Flight

@Mr. Sullivan

Oh my word, this is charming. In an incredibly simple pitch, you’ve really nailed a tone and technological aspect here that strikes me as remarkably Japanese. Over the course of just three short sentences, you craft a tranquil and - dare I say? - immersive journey through a very specific, yet universal, theme and place. I’d worry about the realism of the experience, but I actually think that the way in which you’ve set this up plays wonderfully into EPCOT’s heart of Presentationalist design language.

Community Chest: This somehow makes the whole pitch even better. Simply elegant.

Peg Leg Pete’s Loop of Peril

@Miru

There’s an interesting combination of Disney cartoon settings here: you’ve got the Goofy Movie-focused queue, and an on-ride experience with Peg-Leg Pete and Mickey Mouse that is straight out of a classic cartoon. It reads as a bit contradictory to me, but I’m sure most riders would be more focused on the thrilling-on ride experience! The plot is very fun, as well: probably my favorite kind of villain-focused attractions are the ones where the backstory is that they’re fueling their evil schemes with our pain and suffering. That being said, this strikes me as another contradictory element: is our host the literally cartoonishly evil Peg-Leg Pete, or the Goofy Movie jerky dad Pete?

Community Chest: This is a delightfully in-character utilization of an otherwise underused character!

Baby Park: A Mario Race!

@Orange-Bird

This entire pitch is what I can best describe as beautiful chaos: everything from the idea to the execution to that picture is absolutely insane, for better or for worse! I have to commend you for the bold, if a bit out-there idea, first and foremost. I appreciate the interactive elements you included here, although I have to wonder if there was a way to take it further! I also am not entirely clear where this would go within SNW. Still, you went for something outlandish here, and I think that paid off!

Community Chest: This does a very nice job of setting up the chaos to come… although it does stretch the boundaries of a run-on sentence a little bit!

Captain Hook’s Boats

@ThemeParkPriest

First of all, well done with picking a park in need of capacity: DLP is pretty neglected, as you point out, and this would be a great way of adding something else for younger guests to do. Peter Pan, and Captain Hook in particular, is one of those properties that’s pretty evergreen, as well. Plus, having this be a himalaya is a good utilization of a ride system that Disney doesn’t really have a history of using. This is an all-around solid pitch!

Community Chest: Yarrrrr, me hearties!

Operation Omnidroid Assault

@Evilgidgit

We’re taking the OSC back to its roots with this one! In the spirit of your submission, I’ll be brief: this is a wonderful ride system that I was not familiar with, and the Incredibles are a great property that Disney’s parks really haven’t mined enough.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix!

@Tegan pilots a chicken

Another flat ride for EPCOT is another win, in my book! This is a fun way of centering a flat ride, and a great way to reactivate the Wonders of Life space. I’d like to see more of how this will be incorporated into the existing building. This would be a great fit within some sort of entire music pavilion! I can also see quite a bit of seasonality potential here, as the projections and music could be easily changed out; EPCOT is such a locals’ park, that element could be a big hit!

Community Chest: I am Groot!

Pete’s Construction Commotion

@WaltWiz1901

Out of the two Pete-and-construction centered submissions, I’d say this is the more complete package. A scrambler is yet another of those ride models that has the potential for more usage, and construction equipment is an excellent method of disguising the ride’s mechanisms diegetically. My concerns about adding to Disneyland’s already Herculean capacity notwithstanding, this is a very unified pitch, with everything from the font to the image forwarding the idea of a classic Mickey Mouse cartoon!

Community Chest: Again, I love how your entire presentation coaleases. The specific reference to Building a Building in particular elevates this even further!

Diddy’s Jungle Beat

@Lizzy May Bee

More Epic Universe expansion makes me happy (save some ideas for later, everyone ;))! I love this modern take on the teacups, and it provides a good balance to the more thrilling Mine Cart Madness. Your use of animatronics is delightful as well. I have a few operational concerns, mainly how the spinning teacups would be balanced with the bongo banging, but it’s charming nonetheless!

Community Chest: Will the animatronic speak the instructions? That would be pretty one-of-a-kind for a flat ride, unless I’m mistaken!

Beta & Gamma’s Flight Training

@Half/CartoonHalf/Human

Another kawaii flat ride! I commend you for going with a park that I don’t believe anyone else used for this prompt, and another unique ride system that is novel to the Disney parks. It would be a nice touch to add customized nameplates to each vehicle: one per dog!

Community Chest: I’m… regrettably out of quips.

Twisters

@Disney Dad 3000

A Universal second top spin, but this time, dueling! This is a wonderful use of the something-goes-horribly-wrong trope. The walls (and presumably ceiling?) flying away before riders’ eyes would be an all-time great theme park illusion. And it wouldn’t be Universal without water effects!

Community Chest: “You don’t face your fears - you ride ‘em” would make for a great tagline!

Be Our Guest!

@Architectural Guinea Pig

This is a pretty unique idea in this round: essentially taking a single scene from a dark ride and importing it to the states. And as far as dark ride scenes go, you’ve nailed a great scene to pick! The varying animatronics and setpieces really elevates this for me. I do wonder if the general public would understand that this is not Be Our Guest restaurant, but an entirely new attraction!

Community Chest: “And now, we invite you to relax! Let us pull up a chair! As the dining room proudly presents: your dinner!”

We All Need A Bigger Boat

@Lord Fozzinator

&

Baby Park: A Mario Race!

@Orange-Bird

There’s an off-the-wall creativity to both of these - I hope you both continue to go for it with every submission! My concerns about how these would be incorporated into their respective lands, and balance with existing attractions, hold them both back somewhat, but you should both be proud of how these turned out.

Terrier

Revenge of the Phantom of the Opera

@D Hulk

This is such a solid pitch, front to back. You’ve identified a land that needs more capacity and paired it with a flat ride that meets both that need and the intensity of the whole area.

Automobile

Droid Assembly Spin

@PerGron

There’s a few people who used interactivity, but I think how you incorporate it is probably my favorite. The wonderful location (I really love that Droid Depot detail) brings it above and beyond, earning this spot!

St Charles Place

To be honest, I don’t have any justification for the use of this space. But Marc Davis gags are pretty awesome, and St Charles sounds like a distant estranged relative of a Mark Davis character, or something like that! And Disney just loves to meddle with classic attractions. So, your challenge?

Pitch a new gag-focused scene to be added to a classic Disney attraction

This prompt is due on Tuesday the 27th at 12:00 PM Disneyland Time (PST)

Tips ‘n’ Tricks

What constitutes a classic Disney attraction is up for debate. Pirates, Mansion, Small World, Jungle Cruise, etc. are shoo-ins, but if you have something else you want to try, go for it. It can only help to say where in the attraction this will go, and what narrative purpose it serves! Art, no matter how crude, is highly highly encouraged. When it comes to gags, a picture is worth a thousand words!

Community Chest Bonus Point

Tell me how Disney would soften the news of your addition (replacement) to us fans! Popcorn bucket, Muppets Rock 'n' Roller coaster, etc - pander your very hardest.

Radiator Springs Racers has a new scene replacing the tractor sequence; one involving Dusty Crophopper from the Planes films flying around, before making a deliberate crash-landing in front of the riders and saying “Bazinga!” Additionally, Fin MacMissile can be seen flying overhead and firing some missiles.

Community Chest:

Outside Philharmagic, the Muppets have started to do meet and greets outside their former residence, including Bean Bunny, who also gets his own popcorn bucket in his likeness (alongside Waldo C Graphic, who he sits on) for guest delectation.

In Tiana's Bayou Adventure (only Magic Kingdom for now), a new scene that serves basically no narrative purpose is added in the lift hill just before the big drop. The animatronic of Tiana is kept, and she is heard saying, “Shouldn’t there be a climax here, or an encounter with that voodoo guy or something? ‘Cuz it feels like something's missing if the drop's only here to take me to a party.”

Bonus: Disney starts to hands out Lightning Lane passes for TBA like candy and they hype up this new scene on social media as an “improvement” to the ride even though it barely changes anything.

The scene with the chimpanzees that replaced the headhunters in the Jungle Cruise is replaced with a new scene to provide a bit more variety to the attraction's animal lineup. Specifically, since the scene is just before the Cambodian Temple, the "Asia" segment of the attraction now begins a bit earlier - the skipper tells us to keep an eye out as we travel down the Mekong River, as poachers have been reported in the area. Sort of a counterpart to the earlier Africa Veldt scene, riders are treated to a spectacular display of black panthers, Indian wolves, sloth bears, sun bears, langur monkeys, clouded leopards, and sure enough, a poacher - desperately trying to get his gun back from under a snoozing sloth bear, unaware that a langur monkey has just stolen his pith helmet!

BONUS: It's doubtful that anyone would care about the removal of the chimps, but the animatronics are moved to earlier in the attraction just before the gorillas.

Big Thunder (and 'Lightning') McMountain

You never thought that the "little bit of new magic" coming to BTM next year would help preview the new Cars addition to Frontierland, did you—well, think again! The iconic turn over the River will soon become "Lightning Pass," where Thunder and Lightning collide...almost! A new effect has Lightning McQueen nearly collide with your runaway mine train, only for you to quickly swerve out of the way; this creates perfect synergy with everyone's favorite upcoming Magic Kingdom project!
