Paint The Night Parade Comes Back Next Year For DL’s 70th Anniversary

Intresting change tonight, they moved the dancers that usually walk on the side of the princess float to the front of the float where the now cut court dancers use to be.

They added a 3rd person to that spinner thing tonight, its a bit weird because that person isn't hooked up to it so if one of them drops it they'll most likely not catch it in time anyway.

Thank you for reporting it right before I had the chance to, but here’s photographs of said changes to the Belle Unit:

I believe there were 6 dancers but two walked off before reaching where I was watching

EDIT: I’m also surprised they fixed the spinner that fast

I mean, they changed the intro. They changed the finale music. And we're mad about a few dancers?

At this point it's hardly PTN from 2015. It's better than nothing. But it's not the quality Disney was doing literally a decade ago.

So, the To all who come to this happy place Disney proudly presents intro sounds edited and unnatural. Can we all just agree that it's fine to say 'ladies and gentleman' and get back to the way they announced their entertainment offerings for 65 years? I hope that someone in entertainment comes to their senses and they quietly bring back the classic intro. No one would be mad, and fans would be thrilled.

And the Happy pop song they edited into the finale also sounds wildly out of place, and doesn't carry the weight needed to be a finale song. It'd be better if it was somewhere in like the middle of the parade- but the finale music should be the culmination of not just the parade, but also remind people of their deep love for Disney and Disneyland. That's why the show used to end with Zip a Dee Doo Dah and When you Wish upon a Star. I know Zip a Dee Doo Dah isn't being used anymore, but why'd they get rid of When you Wish?

It's like how the park opens with the stupid Mix Magic song now. If we're not gonna use Zip a Dee Doo Dah that's fine, but they should be using the Snow White Heigh Ho song or something.

A major problem I have with Disneyland cloning Paint the Night is because the title used to have an actual meaning . I actually remember when the Paint the Night was originally exclusive to Hong Kong Disneyland. The original Hong Kong version of that parade actually lived up to its name since guests were invited to actually "Paint the Night".

Before debuting at Disneyland during the park's 60th Anniversary in 2015. The original version of the parade at Hong Kong that debuted 2014 had interactive elements. Guests were given interactive paint brushes which created different lighting effects on the floats and performer costumes. Even the D23 article for the Hong Kong version focused more on the interactivity.

The show stop section from the original Hong Kong version was the perfect opportunity for guests to interact with the lights as seen in these two videos from 2014. Even the announcer said "Now it's your chance to "Paint the Night"! Come on everyone." to let guests known when to pull out their brushes.

Even the original logo for Paint the Night empathized on the interactive elements and less on the pop aspect.

The interactive elements was removed near the end of its original run at Hong Kong and wasn't brought to the Disneyland version. Even the parade's logo was redesigned with a simple text alongside the party aspect being more noticeable. Unless you've seen the Hong Kong version, the title feels like an artifact.

Hopefully WDWs Starlight does better than PTN. If they can get the thing ready and debuted lol. It does have the advantage in that it’s brand new and will come with a soundtrack that is “appropriate” and won’t need to be butchered. Performer wise they may as well start off with very little so they won’t need to make cuts down the road.

Anyone know if the Costumes are better made than PTN?

Soundtrack wise: TDO knows by now what they can and can't use..

I'm pretty sure the Avengers show was canceled for other reasons now that I saw the Thunderbolts.
I thought it was established narrative when Avengers Campus opened that it was a parallel continuity to the MCU in the "multiverse" so it wouldn't have to adhere to the strict rules of the MCU. (https://www.polygon.com/2020/3/11/2...nections-timeline-avengers-campus-easter-eggs)

Plus, Steve Rogers and Black Widow (and other meet & greets like Iron Man) would have been voided out after Endgame if AC followed the MCU's continuity long before current Thunderbolts events. Even more so, King Thanos wouldn't be the main villain in the upcoming attraction.

So I highly doubt Thunderbolts was the reason they canceled the show.

I'm pretty sure that the Avengers show's closure was likely influenced by construction directly behind the Avengers HQ and it's about ease of access off the building. If, once the 2 Avengers attractions are open, the show doesn't return, then its an entertainment cut.

They did try the same interactive stuff with the "Glow with the Show" merch, I have a pair of those ears and remember them working with PtN back during the 60th (and WoC). They even had their own version of the brush, it was a wand held by a Sorcerer Mickey hand. It would do the same thing as the brush. I can't remember if it had any effect in changing the lighting effects, but they did all interact with each other. I remember kids having the wand and would change the colors of the ears around them, it was fun to watch. I wish they would bring them back.

Oh I agree. The originals headdresses were probably hell to wear but they matched the icy design of the float. It’s a shame the redesigns are so forgettable.
Eh I don't think it's all that bad! With the lost of the headdress there's more lights and fractal designs on the cape. The new choreo really helps showcase it.

It's my first time ever seeing it so I enjoyed it for what it was. I thought the main tune was catchy combined with Baroque Hoedown and the floats were beautiful. My main nit is that there were some large gaps between the floats. I had hoped to video record the whole thing (for me. No one else would want to watch it) but I had to record several videos because of the large gaps.
