News Blizzard Beach Hosts Month-Long 30th Anniversary Celebration Before Typhoon Lagoon Reopens

In case anyone is wondering, the "month long celebration" consists of a new salad, some floaties, and a few church-fair-tier games.

Other food, characters, and the DJ lasted one day.

The salad shows up on the preorder for Lottawotta Lodge but is actually only available at the Warming Hut but not on preorder.

If you're wondering what "character floaties" entails, it's generic parrot, flamingo, dragon floaties. Not inherently complaining (it's cute), but I don't think that's what anyone expected.

Right where are the ice gator cups, popcorn buckets and etc. Seriously

They seem to be going entirely with Mickey and Minnie now; aside from the obvious of them meeting, the only image I can find of one of the one day specialty food items had them on the chocolate decoration and they're on the 30th anniversary pin.

And I would get it if they were actually planning a big, month-long celebration and wanted to hedge their bets on something more recognizable, but since they cut everything off why couldn't they just be niche for one day?

Edit: I'm grateful they didn't go with Elsa and Olaf.

Perhaps sadly, the floaties were a little better than I expected, but I was expecting VERY little. I just hope they don’t all pop like the wreaths did.

Calling them character-themed tubes is a stretch though

I think I was expecting just normal floaties with character patterns, so yeah, this was more enjoyable than I thought it would be. They should have just called them "fun new floaties" or something.

That's sad; those were cute.

Tried to go in Saturday to check this out since it's never open. Line was nuts to transfer at DAK, and then when I arrived it was mobbed. I didn't even change at that point because it seemed like things would only get worse.

When I got back to DAK the line was at least 100 people long and it shared a spot with Riviera. So the few people trying to get back at that time had no idea where their line really was. And they had to tell the rush of BB gets trying to rush on the Riviera bus to back off.

Logistically this seems like it'll be bad until TL reopens. Perhaps I just arrived on a bad day

The digital road sign on the way to the Animal Kingdom resort area said Blizzard Beach was full yesterday. I was pretty shocked; I've never seen that before.

I'm not sure what's causing the sudden influx. I was just there two days ago and it was normal.

Interesting. The bus was stuck in a long line of cars even to get in. I've only trudged through that parking lot empty before during marathon weekend so it was a surprise.

But giving free entry to everybody checking in or switching rooms puts a lot more guests in the pool so to speak. Plus balancing 70 something bucks for BB versus 184 to enter a theme park might seem like a good idea on a hot day, even if not getting in free.

I think it mostly came down to it being a hot day (one of the first truly hot days of the year), it being a weekend (all the locals trying to visit), a lot of people checking in, and it being spring break for some people still. I also tried going on Saturday and I just gave up on it once our car got turned away.

The weekends are usually pretty busy when the weather is toasty. I know they really couldn’t, but I still find it crazy how they’ve had to delay having both open for so long. Typhoon will have the same issues on the weekend (it got pretty bad last summer even), but at least it has a pretty big overflow lot.

It's sad..They hype up two water theme parks and add a unique character to it then complete forget about like it's some Figment of Imagination or something...You make a character keep the character out for M&G's...What is so wrong with this? I'm sure Tokyo Disney would have had merch left and right and popcorn buckets out the wazoo already if they were out there..
