If you can't enjoy Frozen, Encanto and Moana just because you're a man then yes, you're missing a lot

It’s not about appealing to men. Plenty of young boys want to see characters they like in the parade. I’m not saying a boy can’t enjoy those movies, but a lot of boys will say it’s too girly if they don’t have any boy representation.

I too am surprised by a Wish float (and don't think the movie was very good) but don't necessarily mind it as I am of the mind that not everything represented has to be exceedingly popular. And the float looks good which is the important thing.

Just what I want in a night time parade: a giant, glowing reminder of how far Disney's standards have fallen.

Unlikely picks are nice, but Wish isn't just unpopular. It was garbage. With awful music.

Agree, so far looks to be only Coco and Peter Pan, so far. I was hoping for a little more 90s films represented or at least one like Aladdin or Herc or Mulan, but they seem to be focusing only on the recent string of movies and a couple of classic ones. Maybe the next reveal if they reveal another, will be a fun surprise.

This more just makes me mad that Wish wasn't good. It should have been a good movie, and then it would have belonged in this parade.
No…it was a terrible movie…so that’s exactly what it “should” be

So crap needs a “voice”? Right
I’m happy Wish was included as that movie fits perfectly for this parade.

Fingers crossed for some more rare or less represented characters to show up as floats.
…but it bombed

I personally liked Wish. Wasn’t my favorite but I liked more than most people. Even if it’s a smaller float it still looks like the best float so far imo. Looks to be decked in lights.
My niece is 7 and mixed race and she loves wish because Asha looks like her, so even though I do not like the movie, I’m happy to see some Asha rep.

To be fair, the parade is called Starlight so at least it fits the theme/story. It also looks like one of those "filler" floats between the major floats from its size.

Hard to tell what the size of these floats will be. For Wish we could just be seeing the front view. That tree might be taller and bigger than it appears because Asha is standing on that branch. Also I imagine Star won’t only appear in that one spot. I’m assuming Star will be a projection.

"Wish bombed at the box office it shouldn't get a float"

Tell that to the imagineers that designed Electrical Parade and gave Alice almost 10 floats

So many Disney movies struggled in their initial run and only found an audience (and made a profit) in time, through reissues, home video, and Disney Parks showcasing them

You can like or dislike any movie, but saying it shouldn't be featured based on box office is plain wrong
They're building an Encanto ride as we speak and both movies made the same amount of money

Disney has shared a new look at the Wish float:

This looks really nice! I do wish they would stop trying to make the “ball of string wrapped around trees” thing work— it was a 5 second piece of the movie with no significance. It didn't translate in the Epcot topiary and it doesn’t look much more successful here.

I don't give a crap how terrible the movie was (no arguments from me there) or whether that makes it "undeserving" of a place in the parade. What I do care about is whether a float is beautiful and appropriately traditional for classic Disney light parade standards. And this float is both. You're not watching a movie here with a plot, you're just looking at a visual. I hate Brave, but I think Merida is also a welcome addition to park entertainment and parade floats like Festival of Fantasy. And i'll take this Wish float any day over something like Paint the Night's Monsters Inc float (a much better movie by comparison but a hideous float). And yeah, i'll beat the dead horse and continue trashing PtN as much as I want. :P

Again there's always the chance that this won't turn out as well in person. The music remains to be heard as well, and that can seriously change the mood of things. But so far every conceptual float design they've released so far has looked fantastic.

I am admittedly a bit surprised that they decided to make a Wish float at all. The enchanted forest design also looks like they could have easily swapped to a different IP with minimal changes. Alice or the Neverland fairies would both have worked with the mushrooms and forest theme, or even Snow White (Dreamlights used to have a somewhat similar looking Snow White float with a meadow of flowers and and tree). However, perhaps they're hoping it will help promote D+ views. And as others have said, Wish IS thematically appropriate to the parade's "Starlight" theme. So it's actually kind of commendable to see some level of thought go into the float choices and not just a random hodgepodge of disorganized crap thrown together without any consideration about whether it all fits together.
