This was tossed out in IU, and getting discussed. Talk as you will.

POTC getting a big refurb after BTM has been thrown out there. Would be nice to see the buccaneers get some work done.

(Though it does kinda kill my hope of MK POTC getting the Tokyo Space “rebuild”
Treatment).

Wasn’t really sure if this warrented its own thread but, here you go. Grain of salt and all that.

Was this your own hope/idea? Like a swap to Shanghai pirates or something like that? Just curious, hadn’t heard that come up before
Yes it was my own personal hope (or cope, more so). Not a rumor. it wasn’t “Shanghai pirates”. More so a rebuilt version of the original, in cocktail party style, with some movie touches and inclusion. Basically a modern version of the original, with expansions on the concept. Like what’s planned for Tokyo space mountain.

Basically because I wish the MK pirates wasn’t the worst one and was more than the Disneyland original cut in half.

If we’re talking priorities, I’d rather hear about SM getting some love first after BTMR before seeing anything happen here
Considering that the SM update has more proof (talking points) to it so far, I'd bet that it's next vice POTC. I do agree that MK's is a serious letdown in comparison to DL's, I can't see them taking down 2 anchor rides at the same time on top of Carsland and Villain's Land construction.

With the complete destruction of the ROA, Tom Sawyer's Island and the Liberty Belle making half the park will be a construction wall disaster for 4+ years... while Big Thunder is still closed, TBA continues to have lots of operational issues, Tomorrowland hosting a shuttered attraction at the entrance to the land, and HOP closing to update or remove, there is way too much construction and loss of capacity to make taking down another attraction like POTC out for several years make a lot of sense... Maybe after Big Thunder is back online and Carsland thing opens they could bear the loss of Pirates and Space Mountain down for a few years of refurbishment.....

I think with Epic Universe and their more immersive "lands", Magic Kingdom is going to look "lightly themed" in comparison... I could see the entire POTC area getting an immersive thematic overhaul into the Pirate's Village like the Shanghai park.... Actuaally all of the MK "lands" could really use a complete facelift making them much more thematic....a corss-property plussing of everything....

Unpopular opinion maybe but my wish is for a complete rebuild like the Shanghai version. Not sure though if there is enough space to do that?

That would be a downgrade. They should use the Shanghai system for a new attraction that better utilizes the technology (i.e. doesn't rely so heavily on watching movies).

If this actually happens, it would be great if they'd remove Jack Sparrow etc. and make it closer to the original, but I doubt that's in the cards.

Liberty Belle is a singe piece of equipment that can be removed from the park, taking that out, where in the world does ROA and Tom Sayer's island come anywhere close to taking up half the park? Even throwing in BTM

I'm of the exact opposite opinion. I'm so tired of all new lands being themed to a single IP. It's expensive and limiting. I much prefer the light theming of MK like Adventureland and Fantasyland. Maybe not Tomorrowland as much, but Carsland and Toy Story Land and Star Wars Land strangle variety so if you aren't a fan of a particular IP there's very little reason to go there unless it has a standout ride.

It would be nice if they would do a huge overhaul. I've been on every classic version of Pirates (I have never been to Shanghai) and World is easily the worst one.

While I agree it's the worst version of classic Pirates, I'm not sure that's especially relevant -- it's still a great attraction on its own (it was one of my favorite rides at the MK as a kid), and I'd wager that the majority of WDW visitors have never been to any of the other Disney resorts so they're not comparing it to other versions.

That is true but they should be catering to me!

lol Don't take that seriously.

I definitely think Space needs attention first (and I do think it will get it first), but there are indeed some things that could use some work with Pirates. Lighting and audio specifically was a little rough when I was there in January. But as someone mentioned above, adding some more theming and aesthetic touches to the plaza, ride entrance, and even queue would be great.

Don’t expect to see Space get attention first.
