Yeah I get what some of you are saying about the Yeti being the main part of the attraction. It really does all lead up to that part where you meet him. And to be honest, at this point I think that Disney are too interested in keeping up...

I enjoy it. But that's just because my family only usually spend the evening in DQ (maybe 4 or 5 hours max). We also have traditional games that we all play on (the NASCAR racing, the Buzz Lightyear game, and maybe Cyber Space Mountain if we haven't ate too much that day). It is pretty out dated...
I always liked Rover (from Carousel of Progress), but I guess that is to general to be thought of as Disney related.
I like Pongo too... for the right dog.
The problem is that the Yeti isn't the weenie. The weenie, in my opinion, is that first big drop. That's what the Guest wants (and expects) to experience. The Yeti is just an added bonus that most might not even realize is broken. I'd love to see it working again though. :)
WDW used MATRA and DCL used Micros when I worked in Merch at both locations. Definitely could have changed since then with all the new technology coming out.
The hook costume is awesome. I used to really enjoy seeing the guests in costume for pirate night. People get so creative. Thanks for teeing one of the fun guests. :)
Now I'm glad I started reading these forums. Just for these little tidbits that I had no idea about. Thanks for posting.
