News Bruce Vaughn Returns to Disney as Co-Lead of Walt Disney Imagineering

Tom Morris discussed this project on a podcast a while back, and described it specifically as a decision executives forced on Imagineers for synergy as GOTG2 opened up. While that's not necessarily an excuse for execution, it's not like it was something dreamt up as a passion project by Joe...

What yahoo is handling Disney's social media?

Disney's attempts at social media interaction have always been cringeworthy. I still remember all of the times they tried and failed to create a viral video for the parks.

Superdry suing Disney over eviction from Disney Springs

This is standard practice for many (if not all) high-tier shopping centers, like the nearby Mall at Millenia. In the case of Superdry, they made a bad bet on expansion right as their cultural moment was coming to a close, and have been having difficulties for the better part of a decade.

Superdry suing Disney over eviction from Disney Springs

I am resurrecting this thread with news today out of Superdry's latest earnings call - the company confirmed it would be exiting US operations this year, meaning the space at Disney Springs will likely be opening up very soon...

News Splash Mountain retheme to Princess and the Frog - Tiana's Bayou Adventure

When it comes down to it, this bizarre assertion that Tiana is not popular enough to have an attraction is easily debunked by the fact that they are building one RIGHT NOW, as we speak. Nothing is done to the parks on a whim, there is a demand for a return on investment and a safe investment at...

News Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

Many folks, including former Imagineers, have chimed in and said the company is mandating the use of specific IPs in attractions. I do remember Tom Morris pointing out in a podcast that things like Mission Breakout were "top-down" decisions where executives told them to make it happen and WDI...

Vineyard Vines coming to Disney Springs

It is possible the store was pushed back to fit the needs of either Disney or Vineyard Vines, or supply chain issues could have been a problem as well.

    The Downtown Disney Thread

Earl's will be a ground-up new building. I assume Tortilla Jo's will be demolished for a multi-tenant option.

    The Downtown Disney Thread

The new Earl of Sandwich will be a two-level, 10,000 square-foot building. They're going to have more than enough space once the new location is up. Tortilla Jo's building certainly has a lot of potential, and the latest new additions give me hope they could so something good with the space...

New Cirque du Soleil 'Drawn to Life' show in development to replace La Nouba

Cirque du Soleil did go bankrupt during the pandemic. I don't know the specifics of their building (i'm assuming it's a ground lease situation) but Disney is known to have especially favorable lease agreements that more or less lock tenants into Disney's terms until their lease ends or Disney...

News Tiana's Bayou Adventure - latest details and construction progress

We're at least six months out from opening, likely longer. Why would the completed animatronics be situated within an active construction site?

News Walt Disney World and other major Disney accounts stop posting on social media platform X

It's so funny to see a certain sect of people here living in an alternative universe where Twitter is as vital and vibrant as it ever was. To the average person, it is noticeably slower, angrier, and less engaging. The age of the social media "town square" is over and people are splintering off...

News Disney Jollywood Nights - Disney's Hollywood Studios Holiday Season ticketed event

Eh, at WDW I think that's very optimistic. Devoted locals could and likely did dress up, but tourists are not packing finery (unless they somehow got a Victoria and Albert's reservation)

The Jim Henson Hour* but yes, he made an appearance there first.
