I wasn't devastated when they changed the original scene because it was definitely problematic. My main issue with the new scene though is the dialogue and voice acting, both of which I think are pretty bad. I have no problem with the character of Redd, but her voice is a bit irritating, and the...
I kind of love the changes announced so far. If nothing else, it's really refreshing to see Disney finally using non-IP characters and elements in an attraction. It's definitely a step in the right direction - now let's just hope they decide to build entirely new non-IP attractions in the future.
If this were the Disney of a different era, instead of shoehorning PATF into a ride/area where I don't feel like it really belongs, they should have created all new characters and a new storyline for Splash. Keep the bluegrass/Southern feel to it (but with a new soundtrack/songs), keep the queue...
Looks like I was the only one who has said Tiki Room so far, but to be honest (and this may be unpopular around here) that is the one and only attraction at Disney that I actually do find sort of cringeworthy and uncomfortable. The accents of the four birds in the beginning are extremely...
I feel like the Splash Mountain name is too iconic to get rid of, and the name itself doesn't reference SotS in any way, so I feel like they can just tweak the name.
Maybe something like "Splash Mountain: Down the Bayou"?
I don't hate the idea of Splash being rethemed to PatF, in fact it's something I always had in my mind as a cool idea for a Splash retheme. Hopefully they keep some of the animal animatronics, and maybe they can even keep Zip a Dee Doo Dah as the finale song? Though not exactly holding my breath...
I've seen some of their older videos - though haven't seen the two they referred to in this recent video - and yes, a lot of their older stuff is pretty cringey. They're just acting like immature early 20-somethings though. We all acted like that when we were younger. They've clearly grown up...
When the HM movie was about to come out, I remember reading rumors that if the movie was successful they would've replaced Leota completely with Jennifer Tilly's version of Leota in the movie. So, let's just be glad that a floating Leota is the only change they ended up making. Though I'm not...
When Jack Sparrow was added to POTC, the movies were a massively successful franchise at the peak of their popularity. The HM movie is a 17-year-old standalone film that was highly disliked by almost everyone. I'd be completely floored if any movie tie-ins were made to the HM ride now.
I'm wondering how the story light will actually work. With SSE being an omnimover, there are constantly people entering and exiting a specific scene, so I'd be curious to see how the light will "follow" you. Again, it could be a cool effect if done right. Emphasis on the "if", though.
I don't know if projecting light onto everything necessarily means it will be more visually impressive. I don't oppose the idea of the story light at all, I think it's a cool idea if done correctly, but based on the image, it looks like every surface is lit up. That just seems excessive to me...
The light effects in the concept art look WAY too exaggerated to me. I'm glad they're still using animatronics (possibly even replacing old ones by the look of the Egyptian scene) but if every inch of the scenery is glistening with the "story light" then it will really detract from everything...
I'm keeping my fingers tightly crossed that this refurb will still stay true to the original message of SSE, but based on Disney's recent history, I'm not too overly optimistic. 😕
I'll be in WDW in a week, so I'm going to be sure to ride SSE as many times as humanly possible.
I know that's how Disney thinks now, that people only want to experience attractions based on something they have an existing relationship with. But, at least for me personally, I get way more out of an experience that I can have exclusively at WDW. As I said in my original post, I can watch...
