Disney no longer cares (much) about raw attendance numbers. They are banking on getting more $'s from fewer, more affluent, guests. So far it doesn't seem they are particularly concerned about how it's going.
Beyond just tickets, this applies to all of their revenue streams. Fewer tickets...
Can't make that judgement without factoring in capacity. Tron has a slightly higher theoretical capacity, but the unique issues with its seating and load process greatly reduces its practical capacity.
And while you are right about some opting out or being shut out of Tron, many opt out of...
There are no resort-to-resort busses, so going through Disney Springs is just as reasonable as going through a park. So I am not following what you think the issue is. You always have to go through another location when using a bus to go from resort to resort.
Tiana's but it's the lesser of 2 evils.
Tron is truly pathetic. It has a great launch and then it makes 50 seconds as boring as it can possibly be. It's cool to watch, but truly boring to ride.
Not that Tiana's is much better, but at least some of the music is fun.
Neither offers much of...
Typically Disney has two responses when macroeconomic factors start cutting into their business.
1. Cost cutting. Reduced hours, entertainment, etc.
2. More local discounts and programs like free dining (though I am not sure they want to open Pandora's Box again)
The pandemic is not a great...
That's only 1/2 true, and even that 1/2 truth only applies if you stay on property. SoCal has many popular attractions besides Disney, and they are much closer than the lesser alternatives in Central Florida. This thing would have flamed out even faster in SoCal.
The idea had a chance, but it...
We also cannot assume that other operational factors were consistent from year to year. For example, when attendance drops, some rides are put into a lower capacity mode, which can keep wait times high.
There is no doubt there was a restriction. The fact RCT got approved is minor miracle. And had it not been featured in Roger Rabbit, even RCT would not have made it.
I'm not saying RCT is proof Lasseter championed non-IP. Its a small indication he was willing to do so, but that's all. He...
He was pushing for Pixar IP over other IP. Non-IP was not an option, it was off the table.
The best case you can make is that we don't know what he would have pushed had there not been that restriction.
Poppcock.
There are plenty of non-IP Disney attractions that have gained truly legendary theme park attraction status.
Here's the reality. People know they want what they already understand. So if you ask them on a guest survey, they respond with what they know. And if you react...
