I visit both WDW and DL frequently, and I can confidently say that the AA's at DL's Splash are always in better shape than WDW's. I have no idea what the refurb is about, but I'd be disappointed if it's just for the que.

One more quick tip! If you're flying there, I'd suggest you book a flight to the nearby Orange County Airport (SNA). It's much closer to Disneyland than LAX, and much less crazy. And you can probably get a cheaper flight into that airport. Alot of first timers make the mistake of flying to LAX...

I was told they plan to keep the height requirement the same, and that's why the new sleds will use seatbelts instead of lap bars. I guess it's tougher to keep a child secure under a lap bar than under a seatbelt.

I've had lunch there 5 or 6 times and only once did I not see the band. I think you are more likely to miss them if you have an early lunch.

For the record, I also miss the Living Seas. The hydrolaters were a bit cheesy, but overall "Seabase Alpha" had a really neat atmosphere.
