That’s true, for some people on the spectrum they can’t see the attraction until they are going to be able to get on it. So your right, it would make the park not doable for some

I wonder though, if they are able to get fewer people using DAS, there will be fewer in the lingering lanes and the maybe the standby lines will be faster?

No, They can’t offer a paid service in place of accommodation … but if the accommodations are better than what other paying guests have access to… that is when they can request documentation. That is why those parks have done it that way. If they were only offering equal access they would not be...

I didn’t think about the fact that a DAS guest can join a standby line from anywhere in park but now that you say that when I was with a family member that used it, I do remember that being a feature. Yeah, I guess that does make it very easy to tempt people to abuse it

I agree… abuse seems like a really negative term.. and I don’t think the overuse of the DAS is intentional by people. I think the issue is that ride capacity is limited … so there are only so many people able to ride each ride cycle and the genie plus are limited to account for this. But the DAS...

They can only require disability information if you are requesting something other students/employees don’t get. They can’t use the fact that someone is disabled as a reason to discriminate against them (not hire, or not allow them to enroll ect) but yes if you need accommodations for special...

I agree, it is all subjective and depends on the disability and what the persons needs are where that line is drawn. That is why it is so counterproductive that Disney has offered the same accommodation for every disability. And your right, accommodations can’t make the product “discourage”...

And honestly, I think people would be willing to pay for a fast pass plus system…. But the genie plus system is really a step down. They are charging a lot of money per day per person .. and a lot of people are saying it’s a lot of aggravation

Lol… it’s funny because I thought the same thing at first (they genie was a big help to folks) but apparently it’s just an app that doesn’t do a whole lot… That said, I think Disney could have fixed this DAS issue in part by allowing non DAS guests a way to reserve a few rides (for free)...

Oh with regular genie you don’t get to reserve any rides. It is just an app that tells people generally what rides have low wait and all. But in order to wait in a virtual line you have to pay .

Schools and jobs can’t ask for disability information… but my understanding is that theme parks and other businesses can ask IF the service they are providing goes above and beyond equal to that if a non disabled customer . So universal gives people a choice of going through their process or...

Agreed. Disney won’t quit offering accommodations to ALL who need them. That said, I do understand that it is scary for people to have counted on an accommodation and then be told it might change.

They can ride another ride.. but the difference is the able bodied person has to pay for Genie plus .. the DAS gives people that ability for free.. I think that is most likely the complaint people have with it. And I say that knowing that for some DAS users it’s not a “better” experience because...
