What we did was have a couple of the utilities/bills in my name and a couple in my husband's name. Our DMV also asks for 2 bills to show proof of address.

That is so true. Most just don't have the support or comfort to be on your feet all day. As someone that has worked on their feet for over 35 years, you want to have a good supporting shoe. Once you mess up your feet, there is no fixing them.

I guess some States are extremely lax and just take your word for it. But even 30 years ago, when I got married, I had to show my marriage certificate to change my name. The first thing you change is your SS card then your DL. Everything else after that.
