Disney has never been good at enforcing anything. It goes against their thought process that making guests happy so they will come back is important at all costs. I don't see this issue being any different.
While I don't agree with the part about Mickey and Minnie no longer being popular, I do agree that there are likely lots of things about modern day Disney that Walt would not be happy with.
I absolutely agree with you about the effects of the ride. The last time I went on it I swore never again. It wasn't enjoyable for me at all. I am older, but the roughness of the ride was way more than I remember. It's one I'm done with for the time being.
