…And conversely, the cash reservation pricing helps them sell DVC.

Is The 2020's Disneyland Resort's Lost Decade???

World of color opened in 2010 Parks are the cash donor right now. Analysts leaning towards D+ probability in 2026. I’m not sure how studio performance factors in…but it could easily be 3-4 years with just updates and overlays. Then investments and the 5+ years to build Anything new of size...

How much of the DIS stock plummet is related to the parks? In particular, WDW..

Agree so far. But being the source of funds for the other parts of the business is hurting the parks. (eg all the cuts, nickel dining and price increases yielding an apparent negative guest reaction) So…if LONG term viability of the company is to continue to flow cash from PR&E to other...

News Tiana’s Palace Coming to Disneyland Later this Year

HAHAHAHAHA. Had to copy that line again….just about the funniest (maybe because it’s true) comment in weeks. Thanks for that!

Disney is a struggling company. I don’t see an end in sight.

At the parks? Because they say they do? I think this is kind of like how Apple says the same Thing about how inclusive they are. We accept and include and appreciate all people…as long as they are wealthy. A Disney vacation is beyond the reach of a large percentage of the American population...

How much of the DIS stock plummet is related to the parks? In particular, WDW..

Same here. Friends used to be so enthusiastic about Disney. While expensive it was always worth it. They’d even get others to go…now they are very anti Disney. They are not bored or worn out…they feel Disney is taking advantage of everyone. And it’s so complex and stressful to go now...

How much of the DIS stock plummet is related to the parks? In particular, WDW..

It’s the last statement that should matter to the parks and resorts fans. The parks are the source of funds. Not a strategic investment of capital to the Disney leadership. And things are strained financially Overall.

How much of the DIS stock plummet is related to the parks? In particular, WDW..

I’m not sure how long they glide on that. I’ve seen the vast majority of diehard lifelong fans comeback with zero desire to return over the last few years. So far, they have not - meaning they canceled future planned trips and haven’t gone during their typical seasonal trips. They are in a...

Why doesn't WDW add more rides when they do major expansions?

Well said. Only Disney could spend billions of dollars on a park (DHS)…. to end up with a smaller park with fewer rides and capacity. And then demolish a 700M portion of the overall investment (starcruiser) within a few years. Its shameful really.

    News Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2023

I’m not sure this isn’t overthinking it a bit. there is a “fixed cost” to hold the party. Once costs are met by cash paying customers, there is a small (likely tiny) incremental cost for each guest. But in general, once costs are hit, margins expand pretty quick on these events. Just don’t...

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

If you care about the parks, you should care about the other divisions of the company. the parks continue to be harvested for cash (Iger’s prior acquisitions, D+ etc). the struggles elsewhere are as much a reason as any WDW has been shaped to what it is. I would be willing to bet the parks...

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

Hotels have a significant fixed cost just to be open. The higher the rack rate, the higher the profitability (The higher the free cash generated). Disney used to have an “Embarrassingly high” rack rate. They generated a ton of cash for WDW and the company. DVC is undercutting this badly...

Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

ouch indeed. The parks are going to continue to be a source of cash for the streaming business, the debt of the fox acquisition and the studios… Epic universe is a massive, audacious capital investment by a growing competitor in a market Disney created and owned for decades. I believe the lack...
