If you don't like what restrictions your politicians have/have not put in place, contact their offices.

If masks and/or social distancing are requested by a business, comply to the letter.

Life is full of risks. Do what you think is best for you and be comfortable with it. If you feel more comfortable wearing a mask, wear it (and we all have cool collections of masks at this point, so why not?). I mentioned in another thread - I was in Japan a few years ago and a good 20% of people were wearing masks in public places as a matter of course. I could see that happening here.

I think I'm being shamed ...but it is the internet sooooo, if not, you have a nice day too! My cat is having surgery, so I'll be up early also.

Was being serious just like I am now, good luck to you and your cat. Been dealing with lots of tests for my 16yo here so I get pet stress.

(As an FYI I'm beyond passive aggressive bs games on the internet... in case you ever wonder in future posts, I'm pretty straight here)

Most likely higher vaccinated states like NJ, NY, and PA will not gonna have indoor masks mandate ever again.
By September 13th, the indoor masks will be lifted for public transportation (trains and buses) for higher vaccinated states like NJ and NY soon.

Neither will most of the lower vaccinated states…which is a good thing

I just took my daughter to register for school.

They told me she doesn’t need to wear a mask if she is fully vaccinated and asked for her vaccine card that we handed over to them for a photo copy.

Unfortunately there was a large group of parents off to the side yelling at just about everyone that they can’t be forced to show proof and their child will not be masking.

Sigh it will never end.

I’m so tired of this madness.

True story, when the nurse plunged that needle into my arm I cried like a baby.

So many emotions all at once, but mostly the pure joy of knowing that this hell was over for my family and I.

How can people not want that?

I know you’re just joking but if your kid poked vaccinated adults who aren’t required to wear masks where I live, you could very well be the one ending up with the bruises.

They give fair warning about others keeping their used gross lung air without a provenance away and the poking that will commence otherwise, then stand their ground. They aren’t barbaric, just 11. Nobody listens to an 11 year old.

Could be worse, could be an actual lightsaber, hands, arms, and legs everywhere. Ewwww. 🗡


I on the other hand look forward to their twelfth birthday plus two weeks and a day. Nobody wants a jab on their birthday, but the next day is fair game. Then I can join the ranks of “who gives a frick, I got mine, let it burn”. I’ll feel terrible, but I’m confident I’ll get over it eventually, sadly. I wish I was a better person.

Yes.

I’m just reporting what was going on.

My daughter vaccinated the very day she was eligible.

It was a mess at the school and it sort of took me by surprise.

From what I saw today Im pretty sure my daughter will be in class with unmasked non vaccinated kids.

Those parents should all be ashamed of themselves...they're teaching their children it's okay to lie and break rules.

Driving on the roads is a privilege according to the rules of most states, thus drivers licences and the ability to have them revoked, even though your tax dollars pay for those roads if you like it or not.
As this delta and other variants come, and they will, more will get sick, some will die, and some will have long term effects. Some will be fine.
Those people should hope they get lucky, but we shall see.
I think there will be serious consequences for stupidity coming.
This is history book stuff I never thought would happen, especially the long term closure of a place as big as WDW, where many could be spread out.
Disneyland I could see.

... but the big difference is that getting seriously ill from covid is now pretty much a choice instead of a random occurrence. Anyone who wants to have almost perfect protection from the virus can have it for free in 2 to 6 weeks.

The more important number is the survival rate, vaccinated people are getting the delta variant but very few are getting serious cases and even fewer are dying.

It stinks it’s not as good against the delta as the others but 64% is still pretty good.

My boys are both autistic...needless to say, life around here can be chaotic (understatement of the decade).

One thing I never, ever budge on - RULES MUST BE OBEYED.

We would never have been able to visit WDW with them when they were 2 1/2 and 7 without lots and lots of practice with rules beforehand. Rules for packing, rules for the bus from where we park to the airport, rules for the plane, rules for the hotel room, etc. etc. The three of us (but mostly me and my youngest) practiced for months prior to that trip. By the time they were 5 1/2 and 12, you would never know they were even on a plane with you (I've been approached and told as much by complete strangers) because we'd traveled on so many modes of transportation and been to WDW multiple times.

My oldest is now 15, and it's been so drilled into him that I've had to tell him not to berate his elder peers for cursing or to tell strange men on the subway that it's not okay to lean on the doors because it's likely to get him punched in the face or worse (yep...both actually happened).

Struggles with mask-wearing? WE HAD ABSOLUTELY NONE. We told them to wear them, and they did. My youngest still does as he's only 10. My oldest was eager to get vaccinated, and my youngest continues to ask when he can get his.

ETA: Masks are recommended for extended school year (summer school) for my youngest, but not required. He's one of the very few actually wearing one...but considering that his class is likely 6 or fewer kids, I'm not enormously concerned. We don't know what school in the fall is going to look like yet.

Could be worse, she could be unvaccinated too.

That’s what the kids a few years younger need to plan for. Some of them, unable to vaccinate yet will be sitting next to other unable to vaccinate yet kids whose parents choose not to vaccinate. Assuming this is a public school, it’s not like they’ll have another choice. Is that one or two vectors away from poor decisions?

With WDW, at least they can wait it out. Not so much school.

I just had a realization that I think will be very controversial.

Mainly because it’s not supported by science but I’ve been noticing a pattern.

WARNING: what you are about to read is not supported in any way by science and comes from the mind of an idiot <—( that’s me )

I have been noticing these stories that keep popping up, that when vaccinated people are tested randomly in large samples - for example on that navy ship - we are getting a very unusual breakthrough rate.

Is it at all possible that us vaccinated folks are all catching the virus and have no idea?

If we have no symptoms and would only test positive for a day or two, how would we ever know without large scale random testing?

Can someone who understands this better than I fill me in on if this is a possibility ?

If masks and social distancing worked we wouldn’t have needed the vaccine.

I’m sorry, but that’s just way too black and white for me. Masks and social distancing do work to reduce spread. This is proven. Vaccines are more effective, but that doesn’t mean the other strategies have no impact.
