Credibility = History = Not being transparent = Simply! Don't trust what they say. When I see actual enforceable legal parameters for data usage, storage and erasure it could be a good thing. Right now its a lot of statements just talk and words. Smacks of manipulation by a few arrogant self appointed enlightened.

This will be fun. Apparently, coronavirus went from humans to mink, mutated, back to humans with a strain that is less sensitive to antibodies, which might decrease efficacy of a potential vaccine. So they are culling all the mink in Denmark.

Manipulation? Have there been reports of the data being used inappropriately? I haven’t heard anything like that but I’d be interested to see/read about it.

I have the PA Covid app. On the storage side the app itself is 13.7MB and I have 1MB of documents and data so it takes up very little space. The app has used 128KB of data in the last 10 days so next to nothing there. The specs on how long your phone keeps data stored and the policy for deleting it is all spelled out in the terms and conditions. I’m not sure what you mean by enforceable legal parameters. There’s no feed of any data from my phone back to Apple or the PA department of Health. The app reaches out to the PA department of health for alerts but that is pushed from them to me, there’s no return feed. I can delete the app at any time and with it all of the stored data.

Yep, that’s how it works. So all that’s stored on my phone are some unique identifier numbers for other phones that came into range of my phone’s Bluetooth. I can’t actually see those numbers from the app or see how many are there or when they are from, basically I can’t see any of that data but it’s there. After a period of time the numbers are deleted. If someone using the app tests positive they can notify the department of health that they use the app and the department of health sends a notice out to all users that the unique number tested positive. If that number matches the list on my phone I get an alert that I came in contact with someone who was positive with links to the department of health info on where to go for testing. If the number isn’t on my phone’s list nothing happens. So my phone doesn’t send anything to PA or Apple just receives the positive numbers from PA.

So you’re mad about something that does not exist? There is no central database. It’s all decentralized with your data stored locally. There was even fighting about the lack of a central database because places like the UK and France wanted centralized databases. What data does exist is also not tied to you directly or your location. This is not just an issue of trust, because there are people who look at how these things work.

Many attendees stopped to pet another attendees dog. Is dog fur a surface that can carry the droplets? The attendees maintained the 6 foot social distancing but the leashed dogs basically interacted with everyone. If mink fur can transmit it, can dog fur?

Edited to add that this is in NO WAY a call for similar drastic actions but simply a question, the answer to which may alter our behavior around al pets.

The CDC doesn’t seem to address the issue of ‘shared petting / interaction’ with animals specifically, but in its guidance for owners of service animals recommends limiting interactions and observing 6’ social distancing for the animal as well as the handler.

So in summary, probably not a major concern, but treat the animal like you would treat a person in a public setting and don’t pet.

You like to declare things as lies or nonexistent. I am not going to engage in a spin discussion as detailed tech data will never be revealed to the public. All statements and information that is put out for public consumption are for the benefit of the developers and supporters. With time everyone will see 20/20, no pun intended, for now I am going to stand back wear my mask, wash my hands and remain socially distanced. I wish you a good day.
