Theme Park Reopening Guidelines to be released 10/20/20

It's honestly going to be a lot to fun to watch -- especially because I think the theme parks will actually win this.

What do they win though? They won’t get to open however they like, so what can a judge possibly do?

It is certainly debatable if Draconian Lockdown measures that deplete millions of jobs and ruin livelihoods for the sake of saving hypothetical elderly at-risk lives is the Right Thing to Do. There are other options that simply aren't even being attempted, such as keeping the At-Risk Elderly locked down while the rest of the world moves on because they're going to be fine. Oh well. These people losing their jobs obviously deserve it.

The consistent use of the word “arbitrary” by operators and industry representatives is probably not a coincidence. A judge could potentially order the guidelines revised if the are deemed to be arbitrary. Challenging the entire State of Emergency seems unlikely as it would generate too much negative publicity.

If you understood the nature of this pandemic, you would understand why Disneyland can't reopen.

You would also understand that Florida isn't in such great shape right now either. If Disneyland had reopened the same time Florida did, Cast Members would still be laid off, tourism would still be down, and those businesses along Harbor that people suddenly have an interest in, would still be shuttered.

Yeah, that would still be an issue. When we heard the 28,000 CMs would be laid off, I thought it would be mostly DLR only to find out it was WDW as well. The reality is open or not open a lower capacity can't sustain all those CMS, especially if spending is down too which I suspect it has to be considering so many others still out of work or making less than before.

However I do feel we are at a point now where can open some things up more safely but yes the problem is until we have a real federal plan then nothing will ever be as it was, until a vaccine shows up. And people are saying that won't solve anything right away.

But its nothing but a yo-yo effect, things go down for awhile, then they go back up again. Look at ALL the states spiking right now? This is the real problem because nothing seriously is being done to contain it sadly.

Right now, everyone is just making it up as they go along. We never had to deal with anything like this in our life time. I actually support most of the measures California is doing but I don't see why some things can't open up faster if they enforce mask wearing and social distancing in the theme parks. It could at least save some jobs too.

Fresh Baked doesn't have any sources and he doesn't break news. He either guessed right or was simply the first to make a YouTube video after the rumors were reported.

YouTubers like him, Mickey Views, DSNY, all of them, they just repackage news reported elsewhere. They're not an original source on anything.

No one is claiming they are CNN lol. All they do is like what EVERY Disney 'news' site does, including this one. FB simply posted it faster, but few have true inside sources, but that's not the point either. Al Lutz was probably the only one on the web that had real inside sources and he was still only right about 40% of the time. So even WITH supposed sources isn't going to be any more or less accurate.

My god I am SO sorry I brought it up lol. The only reason why I did was to acknowledge the rumors were true all along. But my guess is if he got it all wrong, this board would be pointing it out over and over again. None of this is that important either way.

Don't feign support for Cast Members as a justification for wanting a theme park to reopen in a pandemic. If people were really concerned about Cast Member well being, they would be helping them independent of anything else.

There is some legal precedent to throw this type of decision to the county which might be better equipped to decide this. The fact that OC disagrees with the Governor here could help with that. Orange County, FL went the opposite direction and has a mask mandate when the state doesn’t.

I don't even want to go to Disneyland. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I've gone out every day to work in The Pandemic and I feel like the rest of you are clearly living in a different world (a far more Communist China world) where you all stay in the house and everything needs to be closed in the name of saving hypothetical 80 year olds with underlying issues who should be kept locked down. Many of us have been leaving the house every day throughout The Pandemic to work...does it bother you? If we can, why not Disney workers? What do you have against it? They haven't even been given the opportunity. I guess you just hate opportunity, don't you.

What’s scary to many of us, with all do respect, isn’t even power tripping leaders like Newsom, it’s people who just accept whatever your political leaders tell you if they have a D by they’re name because they’ve convinced you the other side is evil or stupid and they are the super hero’s here just to serve and save you. I’m skeptical of all politicians, scientists, infectious disease specialists and run everything
any of them say through my God given common sense. You know why, because they ALL have an agenda. Yes even scientists.

Roller Coasters and high speed rides would seem to be forbidden once Disneyland reopens in the mythical Yellow Tier. From the guidelines...

• Evaluate the speed and other dynamics of each attraction to ensure face coverings of various types (e.g. common surgical masks with loops around ears, face coverings with a strap that goes around the back of the head, bandaging or other fabric tied around head) can be safely worn and secured on rides. Face coverings must not present a loose article hazard or interfere with the safe operation of the attraction when used by either riders or ride operators. If necessary, consult with the ride manufacturer/supplier to decide which types of face coverings are appropriate for specific rides.
• Discontinue use of a ride or attraction where use of face coverings presents a safety issue or high incidence of loss of face covering during operation.

I think the govenor is nuts HOWEVER i have riden all the coasters...the real ones...in florida and my mask never even budges...montu...sheikra...mako...etc

We pretty much knew this was going to be the result when Iger left the committee. So much for all the subsequent Disney bluster.

I'm on the "proceed with caution" end of the argument spectrum, and even I think this is ridiculous. The yellow tier at only 25% capacity? Why not have the gonads to call it what it is: you can't open until there is a vaccine. Frankly, I'm not sure that the govt. should be saying that to ANY business unless they are willing to back it up with some financial assistance.

My heart goes out to all the cast members and surrounding business staff and owners for the economic hardships to come. This too, shall pass. <3

If people think its unsafe they can....get this...not visit. A government body shouldn't dictate your decisions like this. Its pretty clear cut and dry. Live life with higher risk or dont...personal choice is a thing...i mean i guess in California its been dead for a few decades but you get my drift.

Perhaps. But blindly following one political party (in the eyes of the average CA voter) because the other is perceived as worse in a state where most of the populance is more focused on other objectives does not equate to a far reaching mandate of this proportion.

When people eventually look around and realize their favorire businesses are adversely impacted by the politicians they support I don’t think they’ll say to themselves “ah, this is what I voted for”.

I agree....sadly the problem with voting...ahmm everyone voting is that even stupid people can. The downfall of democracy.
