I am misremembering something or was the country bear jamboree entrance where the exit is now at Pecos Bill’s at one point?

No it was always an exit into Pecos Bills what was called the Mile Log Bar. As you exited the show you would see Melvyn, Buff and Max again greeting you to the bar, However this wall was removed and you can see the food counter in front of you..

At one point when the park first opened the shop between the lobby and Pecos Bills was indoor extended queue for the Bears. I know you'd walk outside along the wooden sidewalk between the two, but I'm not sure where you actually entered the line when that extended queue was in use.
