Of course not...

With over scheduling, stress and money crunch...people need to maintain their youthful sense of fun as long as possible. It’s good for you.

But when people’s intent is to ALWAYS defend everything about Disney and won’t budge...they say some really silly things. Case in point here.

I really wish that Disney had gotten Spielberg for 9...pay the ransom...he maybe could have gotten Lucas involved but controlled him. Wouldn’t make kingdom of the crystal skull mistakes twice...I hope

I think the biggest "Lost Film" of all time is Spielberg's Return of the Jedi. Lucas wanted him to helm it but couldn't because of Lucas's ongoing fight with the Directors Guild. Imagine the movie though, could have been just as good if not better than Empire instead of the basic retread of A New Hope plot-lines.

I'm sorry but TLJ felt like a gigantic troll job. You can't recover from that abomination. No amount of lens flare & nostalgia **** will fix that mess - sorry JJ. As for SWGE, no one has an emotional connection to this new trilogy, None. As a local I look forward to seeing this land completely deserted in the not too distant future.

Totally agree about the “trilogy”...when you blow the middle chapter, you don’t have one.

I mean...the idea of bringing lando back 4 years ago was laughed at...

But you kill everyone else off, you make Carrie Fisher the “backbone” of the crossover and she wasn’t up to it (check the Tox report), and then you have to scramble for who’s left. It’s “narrative mismanagement”. Has anyone come up with a reason why they had to have a Laura dern character to do what they could have done with akbar?? Other than she was female and creepy undertones with Fisher??

I think if Iger and chapek weren’t twits when it comes to Star Wars...they’d be OTing the land right now. Give people what they want...or at least recognize. Watch NO ONE react to the Rey walkaround...which I saw in Disneyland. They probably wondered if her shift was starting at the blue milk stand...

He was signed up...there is no bigger fan of Star Wars than Spielberg. A legit fan...not like abrams.

And the DGA/PGA killed it.

But Jedi is STILL an amazing movie based on technical, character and visual accomplishment for its time...holds its appeal better than anything made since.

If given the choice of a FOP FP or a falcon, I would take the FOP every time. .

Exactly. Few people care about Pandora as a story or place, but the reviews and social media reaction of FOP made it a must see and people are still willing to wait in line hours for a great ride based on an IP to which they have zero emotional attachment.

Batuu and MFSR has taken a powerful IP and through a series of terrible creative choices generated tepid reviews and no buzz. It's amazing they could miss the mark that badly.

I think abrams is a money fan...which is why he did a reboot and gave Ford exactly what he wanted for the PR of having him....

He also likes his “boy genius” persona for tbe last 25 years...

Yeah thats what I meant. Clearly his 2 Star Trek films (Which main problems were the god awful writing) were just his demo reel for Lucasfilm to hire him for Star Wars...

If 9 doesn’t receive rave reviews from the public (I don‘t give a **** what critics think) Kennedy will be canned in days. I actually do have hope though that they can turn this around. JJ is a fantastic filmmaker.

I have a hard time accepting that these are actual adult opinions and not the scrawlings of 10 year olds who just got access to the internet.

Chewbacca is a man in a Chewbacca suit. Same with Kylo Ren or Vader. But the Rey walking around is not Rey and everyone can see that except the youngest of children.

The fact that you put this on the popularity of the movies or character instead of this palpable difference suggests to me that you are not thinking through this clearly. Kylo Ren is quite a bit more “popular” and evokes far more reaction in the parks. He is from the sequel trilogy and yet you can suspend disbelief that it is actually him. Much harder with Rey.

Try this thought experiment—would anyone give a crap about actors dressed up as Han, Luke, or Leia walking around? No, they wouldn’t. Case closed. It’s not about the movies.

I gotcha...I agree.

People forget that Star Trek was DEAD when he did that reboot...so he wisely used it as an opportunity...

1. It was a reboot...so there was no high expectations.
2. Zero character development...just had to have Kirk, Spock, bones and Scotty quarrel with each other (he did have GREAT casting...to be fair) and throw in some Klingons.
3. It gave him more credibility as the “franchise savior”...mission impossible...Star Trek........then what?


I’ll give abrams full credit for navigating Hollywood. Though if you believe Michael arndt...Disney screwed Him with demands. So they basically got Lucas, Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan to lay down and follow a misguided approach. And it shows.
