Potter in Disney World?

I was reading some articles about Universal’s Wizarding World and apparently Disney was originally going to create Potter attractions in MK’s Fantasyland...

Is this real? Here are screenshots from the article.

I find this very hard to believe...

It’s true... Disney didn’t think HP would be a huge success in the parks, so they didn’t plan a massive expansion for it, which caused Rowling to look elsewhere.

From my understanding it was to be a mini-land within MK.

Rowling was so disgusted with the creative concepts pitched by Disney that she looked elsewhere for talent.

TDO had the last laugh and answered back with Eww Fantasyland!

Supposedly, the Harry Potter music was in one the DHS loops, prior to Universal obtaining the theme park rights. There are several other instances of non Disney film music being worked into the park loops. It is, or was, most prominent at DHS because of the park's theme but they pop up at Epcot as well.

I'm very happy it never happened because without HP being brought into Uni, Disney would have continued coasting along and not panicked to get itself back in the game. Although it did give us Avatarland which doesnt exactly thrill me. .

The music continued to be used well past 2010. It is part of a bulk licensing deal for music.

Yep. That and Star Trek can (or could) be heard in the buses when traveling to DHS. I'm not sure if that's changed at all recently. Probably not?

Universal building Hogwarts was the best possible outcome for HOP enthusiasts and theme park enthusiasts. Fans of Harry Potter got an incredible experience and by Universal getting critical acclaim and attendance boosts, Disney stepped up their game. Much of the recent building never would have happened with HP. I hate to think where we would be if Universal never acquired the boy who lived.
