Will Disney ever bring back late night hours at Magic Kingdom?

Hello! Magic Kingdom in past summers used to be open to 1 am and even later with EMH. now it's generally opened to 10. Do you think for the 50th anniversary they will bring back late hours again? Thanks!

It's very dependent on the time of year. There's little reason to have really late hours when the crowds are generally lighter. But when they pick up again they'll go back to having times of extended late hours. So look for them come Spring and Summer.

I've been there during some of those late night park hours and it looks tough on those CM's having to pull that duty. The guests get to enjoy the extra attraction time but I'm sure the CM's must dread having to work it.

There is no such time of year any more. Only off days when the weather is really cold or like the Tuesday after Labour Day.

MK should be open 8:00am to 10:00pm most days of the year like Tokyo. Attendence is certainly similar.

those lighter crowd days will exist when SWGE opens. It happened a few times when Toy Story land opened.

While the crowds are most certainly heavier than they were years ago, they still ebb and flow seasonally. January and the first part of February are much slower than December. yes, they're what we were used to from Spring Break 10 years ago, but in the overall scheme of the year, still slower than other parts.

I'll pick up for Presidents Day weekend, then slow down (relatively) until around the end of March or April, at which point it'll ramp up and stay strongly busy through September. That's when you'll see the longer hours and extended late nights. Because they base them on what the crowds are for that time of year in comparison to what they are the other parts of the year, not compared to what they were a decade ago.

They already did. But it's called "Disney After Dark" and will cost you extra.
That is not accurate. Disney publishes shorter hours this far in advance but frequently extend them when the dates get closer. On my trip last June, we were originally supposed to be 9am to 10pm at the Magic Kingdom most nights but it was extended to AT LEAST 8am to midnight every single night of the trip. You can't gauge summer hours by what's posted six months ahead of time.

I'm not comparing it with hours a few months out. I'm comparing it with regular park hours a few years ago. We used to have regular hours to midnight or 1 AM in early June. This past summer it started as 10 and was adjusted to 11 a month or so out. But that's still earlier than in prior years. And it's a shame because in the heat of FL in the summer, we really value those hours after dark.

I would assume most aren’t working 10+ hour shifts- they’d just schedule some people to come in later. At least with EMH They close a ton of stuff after regular hours are done anyway. As a college age kid, I kind of appreciated the later night shifts at Busch Gardens, especially in the summer- less heat, lighter crowds, and save for the awful people who drag their kids around until midnight and then wonder why everyone is miserable, the lesser crowds meant much calmer and more reasonable customers.

I’ve always found those late nights at MK, whether normal hours or EMH, to be a lot of fun. And the CMs have time to be chatty and interact more at the rides.

I agree! I was at Disneyland in December riding Indiana Jones and talked to the CMs for a few minutes. Since I'm moving to Orange County for community college, I was asking them about working at Disneyland part time and they convinced me to apply!

The magic kingdom was only open to midnight three times last June according to the calendar. I know during my visits in July and August closing times averaged around 10 - 11 pm for Magic Kingdom.

Well they are mostly college program CMs so Im sure that look is because they’re bitter that their friends are at the bar or club getting white girl wasted whilr they have to work. They’d rather be “living their best life” somewhere besides at work lol.

Some of my greatest memories have been waiting in line at Space Mountain with some of my best friends during the park's EMH until 1am. I can only hope that they make these more frequent!

I feel like in my experience, whenever MK is open past 9PM, the park is absolutely mobbed and crushed (the exception being the late night ticketed events of course).

In my experience, late crowds can be rather variable.

Some years ago, we went to MK on a day when it was going to be open a solid 24hours! it was highly advertised, and as such, the park was packed late at night. I recall, one of the shortest lines we saw was for IaSW, and even that line was over 30minutes at like 1am. After that, we left.

When the weather is perfect, folks tend to stay out longer.

Late nights are among my fondest WDW memories!

In my experience, crowds tend to thin considerably around 11:30pm.

I suspect (and hope) Disney will eventually bring them back.
