Now: A third "theater" with a world wide tour, no scents, and a marvelous view of the Eiffel Tower that looks like you licked the brown paper at Woodstock...

We loved the "Shark Fin Pyramids."

I always request to be seated in one of the central gliders, and the CMs always accommodate. Problem solved!

Then: running across the park to get a paper fast pass for TSM only to find they are all gone
Now: knowing you have fast passes for your favourite rides before you even arrive at the parks

There are plenty of smells still. The earthy one as you fly over the elephants is my favourite.

Horses for courses, I guess. I prefer seeing the whole world to just one state.

Now: Being grateful that the wait for BTM is under an 1hr and you can ride it at least once before 8/9pm park closing.

I guess I can let that slide this time since it is a very detailed observation of one of my all time favorite rides

Then: SSE, Jeremy Irons guided you through time with wonderful dialogue and the music underscore was one of the best. And that descent...beautiful.

Now: SSE, Judi. We love you, but that script could use some tweeks. Not too sure what happened with that music either, but it isn't the greatest. The descent?

Then: The Great Movie Ride
Now: Nothing until Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway opens next year.

Why would you run across the park? Unless it was rope drop, which I was at many, many times prior to FP+ and I can assure you that you could easily walk there at rope drop and obtain FP's.

And just to add a point... TSMM and Soarin' were the big attractions in their respctive parks back then and FP's were usually gone late morning/mid day so there was at least a chance to get one on same day. Flight of Passage is the big draw at AK and there is basically no chance of getting a FP+ day of and no chance of even running to the ride when the park opens and not having to wait 90 minutes.

Then: MGM Studios - an in-depth "Into the Movies" feel themed park that had actual working studios. Even Ernest Saves Christmas was filmed there along with Home Improvement and some others!

Now: Hollywood Studios - a celebratory theme park of Star Wars and Toy Story and whatever was left from MGM, but mostly Star Wars

Taking things a bit further:

Then: Listen to the Land - An interesting boat ride through an abstract, colorful, though odd initial show scene, followed by an informative ride through the greenhouse sections led by a live person who could answer your questions. The attraction's song has been stuck in my head since 1983.

Now: Living with the Land - Odd opening show scene is gone, but it wasn't a big loss. They got rid of the song. The main part of the ride is similar except that it's all a recorded spiel now and the end of the attraction has lost the short bit that kind of tied everything together. It's still a very worthwhile attraction for us old folks.

Then: Characters of all kinds strolling the parks, can be found easily, interacting with guests.
Now: Meet & Greets scheduled, lines form like at attractions, need to buy a ticket to special events to see unusual characters.
