Good morning! We are considering renting points for a stay at the Grand Californian. I have searched everywhere and can’t find this info. Is there any config that you can request connecting rooms?

For DVC rooms they have 3 bedroom grand villas, 2 bedroom dedicated villas and 2 bedroom lockoffs. A 2 bedroom lockoff is a 1 bedroom villa with a connecting studio room. They can either be rented together as a 2 bedroom or separate as 1 studio and a 1 bedroom. The DVC section is tiny. There are only 23 dedicated 2 bedroom and 23 two bedroom lockoffs (23 studios and 23 1 bedroom connected villas) plus a handful of 3 bedroom villas.

DVC doesn’t have studio rooms there that are connected to another studio room. There may be a way to get connecting hotel rooms at the hotel.

Here’s a great site with tons of info:

Technically a 2 bedroom lock off is a studio connecting to a 1 bedroom villa. That is the only configuration there where there are connecting rooms. They are booked as a 2 bedroom lock off though, not separately. If booked separately, you are not guaranteed to have them connecting.

The regular hotel portion of Grand Californian has connecting rooms.

Thank you this info. I figured we would probably need to book a studio & 1 bedroom but just needed confirmation.

Like @helenabear said if you want them to be connecting rent it as a 2 bedroom, not as 2 separate rooms. You also have the option of a 2 bedroom dedicated room. The difference is with a lockoff there are 2 doors to the hallway and a connecting door between the studio and 1 bedroom but with a dedicated there is 1 door to the hallway and the 2nd bedroom connects directly to the living area. The master and living areas are pretty much the same but with a dedicated 2 bedroom the 2nd bedroom has 2 queen beds and a full bath. With the lockoff in addition to the extra door to the hallway, the 2nd bedroom is a studio so it has 1 queen, a pullout couch (queen size), a full bath and a kitchenette. Either way you get the full kitchen, living room and 3 full bathrooms.
