Arriving at Disney

Hi! I was hoping someone could explain to me how arriving at Disney / checking in to the hotel works. I’m trying to book breakfast for the morning we arrive, our plane gets in at 8:45 and then we are taking the shuttle into Disney. My question is what happens with our bags? Do we have to check our bags at our hotel before we can go to the park or do they do this for us? Thank you in advance!
Also if you think this would do better in a different category let me know.

Where are you coming from?

Assuming the US, and you’re using the Magical Express luggage tags, your luggage will be taken directly to your room for you.

You must take Magical Expressto your own resort, you can’t go direct to a park.

If you have carry on, you can check that at Bell Services and then head off to the parks. You don’t need to check in at the desk then. In fact, if do online check-in you may not need to at all, if you get a room ready text. Sometimes with the dining plan it can be best to check-in first, to make sure it’ll work in the parks, it can be funny like that.

If on the other hand you’re coming on an international flight, it’ll take much longer to get through customs and immigration. You’ll have to collect your luggage first, even if you then leave it for them to collect later (or just bring it on the coach). And you would need to check-in at the desk to get your magic bands.

Is that because you're flying an airline that charges fees? It's much easier to check your bags if you have the option. After you check them at your home airport you won't see them again until they appear in your room.

If you're checking a bag, drop it at bell services when you get to your resort.

If you land at 8:45, there's almost zero chance you make it to any kind of breakfast. "Early lunch" would be your best bet, and even that is stretching it.

We just used DME in may and if your flight lands around 8:45 by the time your bus gets loaded (took ours about 20 minutes after we got on) then its about another 30+ minutes to the resorts and if you aren't the first stop then it could be even longer up to an hour or so depending. You probably won't get to your hotel until closer to 10:00 or later, and that is pushing it. This was just my experience on it though so it can be different for each route. But an early lunch or Brunch might be best :)

Thank you all for your advice! I pushed our reservations to 11:30 for brunch. Thats should give us plenty of time.
That's much safer. I once had to wait an hour for the Magical Express to fill up and leave the airport after arrival and then almost another hour to get to the resort and check-in.

I would just plan on getting to Pop and taking an Uber to contemporary. It is very reasonable and will give you a piece of mind. Getting in and rushing and stressing if you are going to make it with Disney Transportation is not the way that I would want to immediately start my vacation. Great call on the Chef Mickey's though no its not fine dining but we always start our vacation there it puts you SO in the Disney spirit!
