So what's the deal with Splash? I know it's been down since January 2nd.

It's the most neglected mountain of the 4 at DL. Space Mountain got its refurb. So did Matterhorn. So did Thunder Mountain.

Is this a true refurb, SM-style where all broken effects are going to be fixed or more like annual maintenance?

LOVE THIS RIDE.

Fall safety equipment is being added from what I hear. This'll allow it to be properly maintained throughout the year.

Its actually more than just fall protection. They are completely replacing the flume in the drop, so sections of the flume are being replaced.

And the assumption is that the some of the AAs are being overhauled. Which should including lighting as well.

We have discussed this in another thread....

Bruh what’s your favorite ride at DLR? I know you re a big Splash Mountain fan like me. Not sure if it’s my favorite but it’s in my Top 3 for sure.

Damn bruh. Great question. I'll give you my top 5, then I would like to hear yours. (The order can change depending on my mood lol)

1. Pirates of the Carribean-This is a perfect ride for me bruham. Am I happy with the changes, auction/jack sparrow, hell no. Nevertheless, this ride is hard to beat. The peaceful bayou scene with the old geezer listening to the banjo. The Talking Skull. The 2 drops in the dark. The memorable music. The staggering number of AA's. Dead men tell no tales. Paul Frees.

2. Haunted Mansion-The beautiful Southern mansion. The Hearst. Stretching room. The Corridor. Paul Frees, again. Memorable music. Practical sets/effects. Madame Leota. Hatbox Ghost (duh). The ballroom scene. The hitchhiking ghosts.

3. Splash Mountain-The beautiful Tolkien mountain. The realistic looking briar patch. The thrill factor. The Logs. The pacing. The music. The surreal trip inside the mountain. The smell. The staggering number of AA's. Burrow's lament. The final drop.

4. Peter Pan's Flight: The beautiful exterior. The rooftops of London. Flying into Wendy's bedroom window. The music. The star room. The quaint AA's. The pacing. Neverland. You can fly!

5. Matterhorn Bobsleds= The beautiful mountain. The yodeling. The darkness. The new terrifying Harolds. The 2 separate tracks with different experiences. The great views of DL. The thrills. The roughness. The splashdown.

What is your top 5 bruh?

Damn bruh, this is a most excellent top 5.

So I kind of run into issues when trying to come up with a TOP list because I wonder... as an AP, do I go with the attractions that are more fun/ and repeatable or do I pretend I’m a tourist and list the most impressive attractions. Or do I pretend someone said Disneyland is being destroyed and you can only save 5 attractions. With that said here’s my attempt... in no particular order.

1. Splash Mountain - it really has it all. Thrills, great songs, tons of AAs, a great pace and just that Disney X factor. The Brer Bear @$$ drop into the Laughin Place scene is just pure quality.

2. Pirates of the Carribean- seriously the first half of this ride alone would make the list. The bayou, drops into the caverns through the battle scene I think is still the best place making that I have ever seen on any attraction and If im not mistaken, it’s hasn’t been topped worldwide.

3. Thunder Mountain- only recently became a huge fan of this. As a teen/ young adult it just felt too slow. But when you ride at night, I think it’s one of the best experiences DL has to offer. It feels faster because the cool nighttime air. Going through all the caves in the dark and hearing the wolves as you zoom by just really takes you somewhere. Sitting in the very back i fine also really pluses the experience. It’s rides like these make me wish the Endor coaster was green lit. Even if they axed the Falcon ride for it and just kept Star Tours.

4. Haunted Mansion- this ride is probably why the word “attraction” was invented. It’s more of an experience than a ride. The Q leads into the ride so perfectly that people debate where the ride actually starts. I mean that’s genius imagineering.

5. Space Mountain- I kind of feel bad putting this on this list and not Indy but it is what it is. Definitely the most thrilling ride at the park and a classic. Q sucks though and that almost knocks it out of the Top 5 for me.

Matterhorn is probably #6 for me followed by the DLRR. Honorable mentions go out to Indy, Pan (although I feel like they kind of ruined London when they did the 60th updates) Alice and Jungle Cruise.

If we re talking Top 5 DLR, I think only TOT would make the list from DCA.

You say PotC is your all time favorite attraction at Disneyland but then say the old man is playing a banjo in the same breath! The old man is not playimg a banjo, the banjo is being played inside! Some fan you are! Your Disneyland AP has been revoked.

Alright dude, I fixed it. Considering I created this list late last night, it's not too shabby...But where would I be in life without TROR correcting my every little mistake?

Quality selection bruh. I struggled long into the night about including Thunder Mountain & Space Mountain in my list. Perhaps we should have done a top ten? Hehe

I know what you mean about the London scene, I wasn't a fan of either. But everything else was on point for me. One of the reasons I love Disneyland is the classic Fantasyland dark rides. The Magic Kingdom is severely lacking in this area. So what is your favorite FL dark ride bruh?

The Hearst.

This is actually one element of HM I don't care for. The horse sound effect is so dumb. It's acceptable and mega charming to hear the ghoulish laughter playing from an obvious speaker at the exit, but the horse annoys me. I don't even like the hearse at WDW, which is even more awkwardly placed behind railings taking up the little courtyard in front of the mansion. I don't approve of placing large props on the grounds of HM. To me, that space looks better in the past before there was a hearse.

LOL@ “long into he night.” Naw Top 10 is too easy bruh. Top 5 makes you make the tough decisions.

Before they ruined London for me I’d say Pan and Alice were neck and neck as my favorite FL Dark ride with Alice having the edge. But now it’s a lot easier for me to say... Alice. I love the indoor/ outdoor element with the huge ficus tree outside, the Mary Blair leaves and designs in the outdoor queue and the caterpillar ride vehicles are probably my favorite in the park. The IP holds a lot of nostalgia for me because I had the movie on repeat when I was like 6-8 years old. I literally remember my dad taking me to some mom and pop video store and me picking it out the VHS along with some VHS of 3 Donald shorts.

I really like the projections they added to the ride as they were tastefully done. I like everything they did to Pan too except London. Also, is it just me or that “second star to the right” / Neverland star has been broken for a while? The nursery upgrades and Tiger Lily water effects are nice.

When did they add the add the Hearse at DL? I wanna say mid to late 90s? I can’t remember a time it wasn’t there. Was it just empty space?

I appreciate the hearse at DL as a father of little kids. I was able to point to the “horse” and say, in mock fear, “Oh no, it’s a GHOST horse!” They look at the reins and the horseshoes, and they roll their eyes at silly dad. Perfect way to wink at the little ones who were fretting over this “scary” attraction. The puns on the tombs kind of serve the same purpose, but they don’t quite reassure toddlers the way the horse does.
