Best time for Ohana?

Was hoping for a 6:00 reservation but was able to snag a 5:05 and a 9:55 for 3/22. My parents also have a reservation that night and said they'd take any time so we also have a 7:00 to pick from. We're mostly choosing b/w 5:05 and 7 because we want to head back to the parks for late rides when the lines are shorter. We think the restaurant will be most fun at 7, but the 5:05 would have the best amount of time left for late rides. Is the restaurant awkward at first seating? Thanks!

With a 5:05 reservation, you can still expect a wait to be seated, and the meal can be lengthy. The place will be in full swing. I'd say its a perfect ADR time.

I think a 5pm ADR is a good time. I prefer to book an earlier ADR at 'Ohana because of the long time it takes to flip a table. It's a relaxed dining environment so there are typically longer wait times later in the evening, especially if there are early fireworks. I made a late ADR one trip and that was a huge mistake - by the time we got to our table, we were too tired to really eat or enjoy the meal. The next trip, I got an ADR as soon as 'Ohana opened at 3:30 and we loved it! We were one of the first ones to be seated and got a table next the windows.

I see a lot of people talking about the long wait to be seated at 'Ohana. You might dig around to see what people are currently experiencing since I've seen a lot of people (us included) who were seated on time or early in recent months and then put through a speed dining meal. We were there in Dec, had an 8:15, were seated at 8:05, and were done in about 45-50 min because of how they were loading people up with food. The whole dining room was turning quickly like this. I'd also check the week of your trip since you may be able to improve your time last minute. We shifted from a 9:55 to an 8:15 the day before our ADR and this was right at Christmas. So, you might be able to get better.

We went in October and this was the case for us. Our food was there before our drinks. I actually was disappointed in how quick it was. It was not as laid back and relaxed as it was before. I felt rushed and we had been looking forward to that meal. It used to be our favorite spot but I think our last trip changed our mind. We had friends who went on November and said the same thing about ohana.

Sounds similar to our experience. They brought us appetizers when taking our drink order and started bringing the meat a couple of minutes later. We asked to wait, but they started loading our plates anyway. They emptied an entire skewer of shrimp onto my 11 year old's plate just to speed up the process. We were close to dessert time when my Lapu Lapu arrived. It was really disappointing.

THE SAME THING HAPPENED WIFH MY HUSBANDS LAPU LAPU!!! I was so irritated. I had been looking forward to him getting one just for the pic... The kids were totally done eating when he got it. When he took the first sip it was all alcohol! They hadn't even finished making it when he got it AND it was slowly leaking from the bottom. Our server (who we could never find) gave him a plate to put under it and we still got charged. We had dessert on the table before I had finished my glass of wine. We had told my mom about this restaurant for months before our trip bc of the atmosphere and food and we left so incredibly disappointed. The first time we went was 8 yrs ago and it was like we were in Fiji where time just slowed down. It felt like such a rushed experience....it obviously still strikes a cord with me. They have definitely exchanged atmosphere for table turnover.

We've been a number of times over the last handful of years and while the wait was usually long, the experience used to be great. I don't know what happened, but it's not good. My Lapu Lapu also was not well mixed. The only bright spot was that our server accidentally gave us the passholder discount. I think I would have taken a nicer experience over saving 10%. Oh well...just one more thing off of our list. It's a tough ADR to snag, so that's less stress for me.

I worked hard for that ADR but never again. If one pops up then maybe, but I this last time I was up at 4 am bc we wanted 8am at CRT and my second main one was ohana. The year before I was checking my app all day every day trying to get an ADR and was so bummed we didn't get it. Like you said though...one less stress on my plate when planning. I hope they have someone who checks these types of sites so they can try and fix the problem. I know they want turnover but the whole appeal of the place was the atmosphere.
