Does anyone else have this issue with the talking, Picture-taking skull in PoTC?

Ok, I get it that they wanted to get a photo opp for this ride, but that dang thing nearly blinded me! I saw spots during the rest of the ride. (Not to mention I made the most awful "dur" face because I was trying to figure out what I was looking at). It was like "Oh look talking skull...*BLINDING FLASH*...oooo look pixies, everywhere pixies."

I am actually referring to this guy, not when a guest ruins your experience

It's not that I don't like it, but I just wish they could tone down the flash or stick him in another location. Or better yet, put another camera in a different place that is more inconspicuous. My pick would be put a camera on the pirate ship (maybe in what looks like another canon) that is right after the drop because that is a big focal point in better lighting. Just my suggestion.

Problem is they are using too cheap of technology. If they used a better sensor and lens they could get away with a lot less flash... probably couldn't eliminate it completely because the need to use a smaller aperture to make sure everything is in focus wouldn't allow them to go flashless... But its likely they used the same system they used on outdoor rides like Splash Mountain where you just don't notice the flash because it happens when you're in sunlight.

Would filming the approach be better? That way they can get the shot they need for a pic and offer video for purchase :shrugs: I just wonder if a video camera would be able to achieve better results without having riders experience a blinding flash.

Didn't they do something like this for 7DMT? I remember seeing video clips on my Magic memory thingamajigdoohicky (can't think of the name right now...long day).
