we have a very early dinner reservation (4:45) for a Saturday in July. I have never been in the restaurant but based on pictures, it looks like parties of 2 -4 could sit by the aquarium...is that right? Will larger parties get a good view?

I believe you're correct in that the tables RIGHT NEXT to the aquarium are for smaller parties, but the restaurant is tiered so that all tables have a view of the aquarium. We were sitting back in the 2nd tier and could see everything beautifully!

I think that all the tables have a decent view. I've sat right next to the window and further back and I enjoyed the view both times. The food....I think if I ate seafood it would have been a better meal.

The restaurant is completely tiered, and quite frankly, you see much more of the aquarium from the tiered area than right next to the glass. We have enjoyed both.

You'll have a decent view, wherever you are seated. The tables right by the glass aren't without their drawbacks. Specifically, the kids from other tables that will try to squeeze between tables or hang over the backs of your chairs or the table itself so they can get as close to the glass as possible.

I'm with Minnie Mum - we've eaten there many times, and when you are next to the glass, it's surprising the number of small children whose parents don't seem to think it's impolite for their kids to hang over and on your table and chairs to get a good look.

We really like one tier up

The Coral Reef is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere, and I've had many fine meals there sitting right by the glass. I tend to disagree (respectfully) that the view is better on the upper tiers. Well, it actually may be better, but the experience is totally unique when you're right by the tank. There are booths just on the other side of the aisle on the bottom tier that have room to seat a larger group.

And I actually enjoy the kids who want to get a closer look at the fish. It's not like they're sitting at my table and grabbing for my food - they're just fascinated by the fish, and want to get a good view. Nothing wrong with that.
