Dining with a 3 year old....

Hey Disney nerds....

I need some help here. My wife and I are taking our kid for the 1st real time(he was there as a 7 month old for a big family thing) this coming April. I can make our dining reservations in 4 days. Now, the dilemma....

Anyone who follows my posting on WDWMagic, which really should be all of you, knows I am positively disgusted with the pricing of Disney food, especially the buffets. However, my house is a democracy, and my vote is only worth 1, whilst my wife's vote is worth about 17. So I tend to get out voted quite often. Anyways....Megan wants to do some character meals. I have managed to get the count down to 1. So I should only have to sell a small portion of my kidney in order to pay for it.

So, which should we do. Crystal Palace is out, simply because my son(Landon) does not give a poop about Pooh(hahahaha poop and pooh) and pals. I think it's down to Chef Mickey's or Tusker House. Thoughts? Opinions? Angry comments?

I have more questions, I think I will just start a pre-trip report and post this in there too.

Tusker House because the food is way better and the characters seem to have time for good interaction. We did 3 last trip CP, GG and TH and even with the price I'd do TH again in a heartbeat, the other 2 not so much. hopefully you'll be able to get a ROL package for there in April.

Tusker house would be my choice as well. The food is better and it is a much easier ARD to get. I think the price is a few bucks lower as well so you can save that kidney for Jiko.

I would vote for Tusker. The food is great (love that jungle juice!), the characters are plentiful, and if you book a time before rope drop (you can usually book starting at 8am, even when the park opens at 9!) you get a nice walk in a totally empty park, and are then positioned nicely ahead of the entering hordes at park open.

I always suggest Chef Mickey's ...the atmosphere alone is AMAZING for kids(the fab 5 and the napkin swinging). Plus if your son is into trains or monorails it will be cool for him to see the monorail go ''thru'' the Contemp.

I took my 3 year old to both of those this past April. I would say Tusker House for basically one reason...or maybe two reasons. The food is way better and my kid liked them both pretty much equally...so it was a win-win.

Another vote for Tusker. Although you don't get to meet Mickey, you get to meet the other 4. Food is slighlty above average for a buffet and it seems less crowded with more space for interactions

I would go with Chef Mickey's even though the food is basically that of a Denny's. I think it's a more festive and stimulating environment for a 3 year old, plus how can you go wrong with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto and Goofy?

Tusker House gets my vote as well. It's a unique atmosphere and more than just the usual buffet fare. I'd recommend lunch for the less expensive meal. Chef Mickey's crowd combined with MK fireworks and closing crowd is a nightmare.

Definitely TH. Darned good food for a Disney buffet, it's a great atmosphere, and it runs a bit cheaper than CM's. I won't go back to CM's without a week's worth of Immodium, a bag full of Lysol wipes, and a new set of ear plugs.
