AK day - save FP for evening at another park?

Hello! Our extended family group of 12 is making first trip to DW this fall. We have 5 day park hopper passes visiting on park each day and will use last day to repeat favorites or do something we missed. Plan to visit AK on Wed Nov 2 with proj. crowd level of 5, w/EMH-morning. Touring plan shows we will have no waits longer than 20 minutes and will be done with everything on our list by 4pm...So, should we book our advance fast passes for that day at another park for the evening - for example Epcot for Frozen and Illuminations thereby freeing up our full Epcot touring day to use those FP for other rides there? AK park hours are scaled back that day to close at 6pm. Thanks in advance for your advice!

Don't put faith and plans in what you've been told. It's a guide, not a promise.

"Because touring plans said so" is not going to lessen crowds. The estimators are just that.

Plan on possibly larger crowds with longer wait times and be flexible. Those numbers you quoted are pretty nice, but more than likely you'll have to wing it for some stuff as you see crowds and wait times first hand.

I agree with the PP. And I fully expect the park hours to be extended as well. Hours for October were just added a couple of days ago, to 8:30 pm. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Nov hours go to at least 8:00. Rumors are circulating that ROL will have started by then. Even without that, there will still be the Tree of Life awakening and the street entertainments. We will be there at the same time, and will take an afternoon resort break so that we can then enjoy the park after dark.

Thank you both very much! Good advice! I did not realize about the park hours updating, so maybe we will get to see the new ROL after all! Hoping so. We will stick with our AK FP for that day and then revise if needed. Thanks again for taking time to offer advice! :)

@boymomof4 , I just want to point out, you can't pre-book Fastpasses for both Frozen and Illuminations on the same day. They are both Tier A attractions and you can only book one of those per day in advance. Your other two have to be from Tier B

We just did AK in the morning and saved our FPs for our afternoon/evening park. We were there at rope drop and had no problem hitting EE 4 times in a row with little or no wait. The Safari had a 20 min wait. Primeval Whirl was 10. (No Dinosaur :( )
We did this only because we weren't planning on making it full days when we went. You will have more attractions and entertainment to make it a full day as others have said.
If you do save them for Epcot - try for Frozen over Illuminations. It's a nicely done attraction. You can always grab a good spot and enjoy the fireworks.

We do the same thing -- hit the Safari, EE, Kali and Dinosaur (when open) first thing, and then work our way back through the park to do all the other attractions, plus any shows that interest us. (We save our FP+ for our "hop to" park later in the day.) If there was a 9am opening, we won't end up in any lines over 20 minutes, and if we go on an EMH morning, maximum waits for the "big four" are no more than 10-15 minutes. FWIW, crowd levels on our AK days are generally pre-estimated by touringplans to be in the 4-7 range.
