Didn't Disney tell us they would give us an update on ROL at the end of May?

It seems Disney has made several bad calls recently. The mess up the pay for 3 hours in spring at magic kingdom. Then announcing the nighttime entertainment at animal kingdom with rol failing, and all of the other offerings being short of exceptional. To be fair, i bet they are livid because while jungle book is a puller, they probably would have delayed nighttime safari and tol show indefinitely. But with the announcement they had to push forward.

Yeah, it is pretty bad AK nights is off to a terrible start. But one thing we have noticed so far this week...tons of management around all the parks from open to close. They've been helping guests, lightly coaching CMs (bad form IMO) and taking pictures of things not working, chipped paint and bad logistics (esp line bottlenecks). I've been here on Mem day week for years and never seen this level of management presence.

This is good to hear, maybe with the adjusted mgmt structure, more of them are out in their new areas to assess their operations?

I think it has been assumed that the announcement of the Jungle Book show took the place of this May update
I don't think so because in the original delay announcement they said they would give an update regarding ROL, Not jungle book. My theory is that Maybe they were planning on releasing a "Jungle book is here to stay while RoL is still getting figured out" after the memorial day weekend, but since Jungle book sucks, they had to scrap the press release.

I posted all the information I have.

Disney knows that feedback on this is nothing short of a dumpster fire. The only problem with that is they knew that about the lumberjacks and it still stayed for a year....

Dave you know better here is how this is going down.

In the beginning was the plan.

And then came the assumptions.

And the assumptions were without form.

And the plan was without substance.

And darkness was upon the face of the workers.

And they spoke among themselves saying,

"It is a crock of s--- and it stinketh."

And the workers went unto their supervisors and said,

"It is a pale of dung and none may abide the odor thereof."

And the supervisor went unto their managers and said,

"It is a container of excrement and it is very strong, such that none may abide by it."

And the managers went unto their directors, saying,

"It is a vessel of fertilizer, and none may abide its strength."

And the directors spoke among themselves, saying to one another,

"It contains that which aids plant growth and it is very strong."

And the directors went unto the vice presidents, saying unto them,

"It promotes growth and is very powerful."

And the vice presidents went unto the president, saying unto him,

"The new plan will promote the growth and vigor of the company, with powerful effects."

And the president looked upon the plan and saw that it was good.

And the plan became policy.

This is how s--- happens.

It's June 1st now. Goooooooood Morning Orlando!

But no announcement.

The original Parks Blog blurb is still up on Disney's website, and here's what they said back in April... https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/b...httime-experiences-at-disneys-animal-kingdom/

"With the expansion of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we’re excited to give Guests even more opportunities to celebrate the magic of animals and nature as day turns into night. While we’d hoped to debut these offerings on April 22, unfortunately, they will not open as planned on that date as we give the team more time to bring these innovative experiences to life in a way we know will exceed our guests’ expectations.

We’ll share more information about timing on the Disney Parks Blog by mid- to late May."

If I were to bet a churro on this, I would bet it's not good news that they'd said nothing by the end of May.

2016 the year Disney management awakens to a lot of firings. (Probably "strategic reassignments" since its darn near impossible to get fired as a full time Disney employee unless you try to sell painted magic bands or something similar)

Really 2016 is a year when Disney attempts to start adding new content again, but just can't get it together. I hope this trend changes before Avatar/Toy Story/Star Wars.

here is what they should do...

Move the "Jungle Book" show to the daytime - multiple shows (forget the water canon projection displays, they were barely visible anyways) and just use 1 set of stands (this way they can place the barges in front of it instead of between the 2). Incorporate some characters somewhere - change up some of the music - have some portion of the show at least partially hold a child's interest as well

Don't have a nighttime show on the water yet until RoL is ready - or redo the portion needing barge gps for a more static position and fix the ridiculous water canon display

I don't think disney really wanted jungle book to be that big of hit. Because if everyone loved it and wanted it to stay, they lose all of the money they invested in RoL.

I still think that as they announced the Jungle Book show as an interim measure, they are not going to talk about Rivers of Light for the foreseeable future. The announcement of Jungle Book is the more information that was promised. The next announcement on Rivers of Light will probably be 2-4 weeks before it debuts.
