Has anyone had any stellar experiences with cast members lately?

I like to tell Guest Relations if I meet a particularly good or friendly cast member. Saturday, I met two young ladies working outside the Pinocchio Village Haus in Magic Kingdom. Their names were Yawa and Basheba. I was looking for the wish book inside the restaurant and they led me to it. But it wasn't so much what they did as their attitudes and demeanor. They were so friendly. It didn't seem a forced friendliness either, but one that bubbled up and overflowed from their souls. I said goodbye to them and walked away, then thought I should really get their names so I can e-mail Guest Relations. (They did have unusual names, after all!) So I went back to them and wrote down their names and told them I would put in a good word for them with Guest Relations, and they seemed happy about that.

Um...these aren't stellar...but stick out in my brain from my trip about a year ago!

I managed to converse with a CM over lunch at Tortuga Tavern in Donald Duck voices...it's cool when someone else does it well! (though my wife was less than enthused and perhaps a little embarrassed!)

I had a cast member near Liberty Square give me kudos on my Masters of the Universe T-Shirt. That was pretty awesome...

When myself and the family were at Epcot last month, being from Canada, we had to check out the Canada pavilion, and we had a nice chat with the young lady working the cash register in the store. We talked about where she was from (Mississauga), where we were from (London), how she liked working at Epcot, the lack of Tim Hortons in Florida, etc. She was very friendly, and it was nice to see a little bit of home while at WDW.

I have two that stick out. One was a CM who was getting off his shift, and was walking to the cast area in between The Plaza and Tomorrowland Terrace. I forgot how we started talking, but he made us laugh so hard by doing impressions of Disney characters! He was really good at them! It really made our day :)

The other was a CM named Imani, who gave us a free dole whip at the Poly because we had four people and only bought three. We had been talking about how she had enjoyed her dcp so much, that she decided to work there (she went to UCF) but she lost her tag so she was wearing her old dcp tag. She was super nice, and the free dole whip she gave us...well that went to my father in law. We were on our way home from Miami and stopped over for the night, so I convinced them to go to the Poly with my hubby and I for some fun. My father in law had just lost his father, and we were coming home from the funeral. It made his weekend special, and I did see him cry a little bit when I told him she had made it for him. We never got to say thank you (aside from writing a note to her at the front desk) as we watched Wishes from the beach, by the time we got back, she was gone already.

Mr. John in Tomorrowland. I've never been anywhere where I've actively sought out the same worker/CM. John is the standard by which ALL theme park employees should strive to be at. I know you guys know who I'm talking about!

Yes,

I had a business trip which ran long and when I finally was able to leave for WDW which was AFTER my family arrived there the aviation gods were not kind and TSA also was doing gate checks trying to ensure no one made their flight that day, So when I FINALLY made it to WDW I was as my wife (who is part Cherokee) calls me 'Big Chief Thundercloud' I had to stop by the store in the Contemporary as food for the villa had not arrived yet and I had to get some sandwich materials, The CM on duty was this big jolly lady who made me completely forget the past 24 hours of airport hopping and put me in a good mood for the rest of the trip. I don't know exactly WHAT she did but just that short interaction of buying groceries was just simply wonderful. Yes I made sure her manager knew what an excellent employee they had there.

I notice that guy every trip! He was at CoP when I went last weekend, actually. Sang the Tiki song for me (I was wearing a Tiki Room T-shirt).

A few years ago, I recall a conversation with a very pleasant CM at the Settlement Trading Post, at Fort Wilderness. He politely asked me if I needed any assistance. I said I was just browsing, and enjoying the rustic style of the resort. He then shared some historical highlights of the property, including the old Fort Wilderness Railroad (no longer there). It was a quiet afternoon in the shop, and we chatted for over 20 minutes.

What impressed me about this gentleman was his genuine appreciation of his surroundings, and his enthusiastic gesture to share his thoughts with me. Sometimes, even a casual conversation with a CM who wants to brighten up your day, can generate more goodwill than some of the more elaborate WDW marketing campaigns.

Yes they can and that's what Disney is losing in trying to replace CM's like this with cheap immigrant labor on H2B visa's (service workers) and CP kids.

It's CM's like the one you describe who are immersed in the world and the lady who made my day who actually make the magic at WDW.

Our server at Rose & Crown, David, was beyond awesome this week. We truly felt like we had made a friend that night. We talked to the manager there, and left comments with GR on the way out of the park. We also went on our first cruise, and met some fabulous CMs on the ship too. Honestly, one of my favorite parts of this trip was meeting some great CMs, and I am typically pretty shy and introverted!

Stellar? No. Adequate? Yes. Terrible? No.

Sometimes, peoples' personalities tend to be a reflection of your own.

Possibly, but the question was LATELY. My family and I have experienced many stellar interactions over the years. I was just responding to the question as it was stated. People are not always in a position to need or experience a stellar experience. There are many threads here as you well know that are full of people with what they perceive as terrible experiences. I can't think of a time when we had one of those.

My fiance and I booked a quick trip this past December to see the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights one last time. Our first night we were in Epcot and figured we would try to see the Candlelight Processional, which we had only done in the past with the dining package.

We approached a cast member named Rayna near the American Adventure and asked her where the standby line was to wait. She asked us if we were big Meredith fans as she was the one narrating that night. We explained that no, we weren't big fans of Meredith, we just planned a quick 3 night trip to see the lights one last time and were hoping to catch the Candlelight Processional although we knew it was unlikely.

She was talking to us and told us to wait a minute and came back with the stickers to put on your shirt that you get if you had the dining package and escorted us through the line and to seats right in the middle of the stage! As we passed other cast members she told them she was using her "magical moments" to get us through the line. :D

She told us we were her favorite kind of guests - ones that ask questions with no expectation of getting something out of it and she gave us the seats because we were kind and polite! It was amazing and really added an extra element to our trip we didn't think would be possible! We reached out to guest services once we got home to let them know how awesome she was!! :)
