Can someone give me an update on Toon Town?

Last time I was at Disneyland nearly all of Toon Town was in scaffolding being repainted. Even the Toon Town "Hollywood" sign was taken down. I fully support this. I adore Toon Town, but it was needing a new paint job for sure. For those of you lucky to have been there recently, how's it looking? Is the work done? Bonus virtual cookies if you have photos!

Thanks dudes.

Not sure if they are done painting yet since I never really go back there. It seems like they should be close if not finished.

Even though ToonTown isn't my favorite place, I have to admit the theming and design are really well done, and the brand new paint job does look really good.

This song needs to be added to Toontown's audio track ASAP you guys.

Smile, darn ya, smile
You know this old world is a great world after all
Smile, darn ya, smile
And right away watch Lady Luck pay you a call

Things are never black as they are painted
Time for you and joy to get acquainted
Make life worthwhile
Come on and smile, darn ya, smile

Smile, darn ya, smile
For there is nothing that you cannot overcome
Smile, darn ya, smile
And where the clouds appear you soon will find the sun

Life is really only what you make it
Stand right up and show them you can take it
Make life worthwhile
Come on and smile, darn ya, smile

It still needs a paint job. It also needs another ride, in my opinion.

For what it is, I like ToonTown. I'm too young to remember it when it first opened, in it's hayday. I've seen videos of the Jolly Trolly in action, Chip and Dale's treehouse fully operational, Goofy's bounce house... Well.. Bouncy. Those things not being operational anymore are just a sign of the times and Disney having to adapt to a more lawsuit happy public. But these things could all be updated and turned into something fun very easily. Like I said, for what Toon Town is. I like it. If not just for the theming.

It's been a part of the land's music loop since it first opened (though with an instrumental version). It starts at 43:34

In general, I think the Toontown music loop is one of the best in the park for setting the right mood. It's over-the-top in its peppy-perky jazz songs that really help set the upbeat 1920's/30's atmosphere for the area

I not only like Toontown, but I love it. It's one of my favorite areas of the park. Loved it as a kid and love it now.

In saying all of this, it does need work. It is VERY obvious Toontown was built in the 90's, and while I do appreciate the nostalgia as a 90's kid, I feel an update is in order. Too town should be expanded as well. I'd like to see another ride and an Ink & Paint Club.

I miss Goofy's bounce house. My oldest use to love that thing. The ball room was gone by then so he never got to try that one.

Wow, I never knew that! Thanks. Is there anything about DL that you don't know Ferret?

Oh sure, lots of things! Why, just this morning I didn't know that they played "Smile, Darn Ya, Smile!" in Toontown ;)

But given the Roger Rabbit connections to both the song and the land, it seemed like a logical fit. A quick search later, and I found that it was in the land's track list. It did take a while longer to find an actual recording, since most of the easily-found tracks were only about 15 minutes long. And it all started with a hunch...
