I'm Hilda!
Strong, smart, resourceful Hilda. Hilda is a badass name with tons of history (mainly kick-*** TV characters of hilarious grandmas), Treat it with the respect it deserves.

I had a great aunt Hilda. She was one of the only people in my family I was legitimately terrified of. She would carry around barrettes and pin my bangs out of my eyes. And she made me eat mashed potatoes and to this day I really dislike them.

Legit question for anyone who has a water softener - are they worth it?

Our town has very hard water, and this year more than any other, my skin is ridiculously dry and itchy.

I have been scratching so bad during the night that I wake up with dried blood and deep gauges everywhere I can reach. And now that I have purchased a back scratcher, I am bleeding in places I couldn't before reach.

Cortisone 10 cream helps localized spots (like my shins), but I would need a tube/day if I slathered it head to toe. P.S. - there is no rash, or bite marks, so I'm quite sure it's no worse than severe dry skin.

I did a little online research, so I know how water softeners work, what they cost, how much room I need, etc.
What I want now is personal opinion - yea or nay?
We have a water softener. My skin never seems to get dry, aside from my hands in the depths of a harsh winter. But other than that, everyone seems to think I have super soft skin.
