The United States Geological Survey confirms a magnitude 2.3 earthquake was recorded 1 mile southeast of Providence at 3:43 a.m. It was recorded at a depth of 9.5 miles.

NBC 10 News received multiple viewer comments that they felt or heard something around that time.

"Really loud in Bristol. Sounded like a very low plane then the house shook," Chris told us on NBC 10's Facebook page.

"I heard a rumble and thought it was a thunderstorm. My dog is sticking to me like glue," said Patricia of Greene.

"Earthquake felt in Johnston. Thought it was a car accident in front of my house!" Alissa said in a tweet.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

It was just a foreboding that Sharknado 3 premieres tonight!!! :)

Not sure if I'll be able to watch Sharknado tonight or not. I have plans with friends and don't know what time I'll be done. But there's a rerun on Sunday night, and my schedule is wide open for Sunday!
